      AutoBlog reviews the Sonic

Pretty good run down of the car its options and its feel. They seemed to really like the Sonic saying it could be a class leader.

Interesting tid bit in there that I find a bit hard to believe.

"the Sonic doesn't share a single [Aveo] component."

The new gauge cluster looks pretty slick.

I know I saw this before, but I didn't think they'd actually go through with open front headlights. The reviewers do admit:

...cleaning bug guts out of the lights stands to be a chore.

The rear lights are the same:

Pshaw! The Aveo is put together better, and definitely has more function. The Aveo also gets better fuel economy (unless you get the 1.4 manual) , and is cheaper to operate. The Sonic is also 300 pounds overweight compared to its competition.

      There, I said it!

It's great news for the US that the Sonic will be made Michigan, it will be the only US-built subcompact. I can see the customized version, the Z-Spec becoming very popular. The Sonic will be released in Thailand next year and will undoubtedly make waves.
Although I love the Sonic's style, I don't feel too bad about owning an old Aveo as the Sonic gives only 29mpg city; still behind the Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris and Mazda 2, which is disappointing.

i think koreans built a better aveo than what the sonic is.. thats just my impression after seeing one in person.
honestly i wish i would have seen it beside a cruze, because i was in shock over the size. it was huge looking.

I liked the idea of a "cheap" foreign car, where it was "quality" parts and "cheap" labor, versus a cheap "american" car which is "cheap" parts and ah hem, "quality" labor..

That's interesting, I haven't actually seen a Sonic but some other posters on ecomodder dot com made similar observations about the size. I didn't understand how a normal Cruze LT could be getting 37mpg, but I guess you're right, it's about size.
