thats pretty well said steve. i dont know if youve come across it, but the new aveo is also bigger and heavier as well. so while that makes those numbers "better" with those factors. the fun of a small, nimble, lightweight car is gone. now the 1.4t with the 6 speed in our body style is what i was contemplating trying, but the swap is as much as a lnf swap currently. although i am led to believe it would drop in and be plug and play for ecotec owners, wonder how the body harness pins out for etecII to ecotec aveos.

what about adapting the turbo and exhaust and head ( and open the chambers to lower compression if this head would fit- maybe everything is different? from the 1.4 along with the electrics ) What is the lnf swap?

If the proposed "Z" tuner arm of Chevrolet takes off ( a poll and prompting from like-minded members here and on related boards- and then a message sent off to GM? ) would be a way to fit this combination here in the states... wonder how different the electrics/computer engine /trans package is from model to model? As an example the 1.4T/6 speed manual in a Sonic – and then the same power train in a Cruze. I understand the gearing is different between the two.
Nonetheless the package from a Sonic would be fairly appropriate on the Spark ( the gearing in the first three gears might be a bit short since it would be designed for a 500+lb heavier car- (minor alteration could come about by picking a taller wheel/tire combination ). The question would be would it pass emissions/legality in the 50 States? if not the latter- perhaps the former? What are the bore/stroke/head relations between the 1.4 and the optional 1.2 in the Spark?

Built in Michigan. Petrified Rabbit would know whether the design is stateside as well.

The design is mainly Korean with some other Chevy divisions helping out. I remember reading that the Corvette engineers had a go at the suspension in the Sonic (much needed IMO, Aveo suspension is way too soft). The car is just being built here (at least for the US Sonics).
