Post 2011 Aveo Timing Belt Replacement

Hi, this is my first time on the forum, and I'm asking for help. I have a 2011 Aveo and am trying to replace the timing belt. (I've replaced timing belts on 2005 Aveo, no problem, but this is my 1st time for 2011.) My problem is there does not appear to be a tensioner for the timing belt on the 2011. Has anyone changed out the timing belt on a 2011 model to know a good procedure ? Thanks, Larry

Hello - I got this issue sorted out. On the '05 Aveo the water pump was driven off the timing belt. Somewhere between 2005 and 2011 the water pump was moved off the timing belt and onto the accessory drive belt. What I thought was the water pump on the 2011 timing belt was in fact the tensioner pulley. So... no problem. One issue that I did encounter was with the timing belt pulley retention bolts - the torque called out in the AC Delco kit sold by RockAuto was way too high for the bolt. The retention bolts are M8x125 and specified Tq is 40 ft-lb. This level of Tq will break the bolt; 20 ft-lb is more appropriate. FYI, Larry
