Exclamation Idle Issue and Car drops to 0 rpms and shuts off. I need Help!!

So yesterday August 12th 2015, my car started acting differently when I was driving. Every time I let go of the gas the RPM would try to drop to 0 and when I tried stepping on the gas I had to floor it in order for it the RPM to go up. Once it would get to 0 the car would shut off and won't turn back on. I had to wait acouple of minutes to turn it on and see if it starts back up which it did. Now it's in my drive way and I've cleaned the throttle body thinking it was that but it still sounds like the engine is trying to shut off and it sounds weaker every second it's on. What could be the issue?

gas air and fire, you check the air, time to check the gas and the fire. Did you get any codes? Does it drive smoothly when it does start?

It could be your idle control valve is bad.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

No codes chow up but I couldn't take it to AutoZone to get the the computer checked because I didn't want to get stuck in the street if it did shut down again. The car runs smoothly for like 2 min and than tries to shut down every time I stop or have to go over a speed bump. I have to keep the Rpms up or else it'll just drop to 0 and turn off.

So check your idle control valve. It's a bypass that puts enough air into the car when the throttle body is closed. What year?

Its a 2004 with 52,456 miles. The transmission was replaced last month and it's been well maintained. I've looked everywhere online to find out the issue and most of the answers have been the idle control valve. I'll see if I can get it replaced today.

So I replaced the idle control valve and it still tries to shut off when I let go of the gas but it only does it occasionally.

I had faulty crank position sensor fail on my Aveo. But it would cause the engine to die and start right back up. Then one day it would not start in the drive way.. I had to crank the engine for 30 seconds before the Crank position sensor code sets. So I would suggest you crank the engine for 30 seconds straight and no more or you will start to hurt the starter motor. Then you should be able to pull the codes. The good news its easy to replace its a single allen bolt near the oil filter on the side of the engine. Here is a tip. If you get a flashing Check engine light and a P0300 code after this repair you will need to get the CKP relearn done with a expensive scan tool. Its also known as a crankshaft variation relearn. Its pretty much a 5 min job but the dealer charges $78 to do it.

Mine is also a 2004 Aveo with 5 speed manual.

Your due to get the timing belt replaced. The 2004 to 2006 are famous for belt or tension or idler pulley coming apart which will wreck all 16 valves on the cylinder head. It has happened around your mileage.

It turned out to be the idle air control valve and the timing belt was replaced in November because it came apart and wrecked all 16 valves already lol.

Just replace the belt again at 83,000 miles to prevent the valves from being wrecked again. I would just replace the water pump and both pulley's every time you do the timing belt.
