Water Pump Pulley Removal on 2010 (how to remove bolts?)
How do I remove the water pump pulley bolts? I removed the belts, headlight, and raised the engine after removing the mount bolts.
Do I need to put the belts back on to remove the bolts? Or is there a trick to keep the pulley from moving when I turn the bolts? The screwdriver trick does not work on this car.

you REALLY need the GM special Tool to do this job properly, it saves a TON of Time and Headache (and prevents damage to expensive bits!); there just isn't enough room for a ratchet (even a 1/4" is too large for the gap between the Water Pump pulley bolts and the frame rail), and a Torx socket. Also, the bolts that secure the water pump to the block are external torx and are difficult with a set of standard external torx sockets, and the special tool has the proper size and length for the pump bolts. the tool number is EN-49201, and you can find them all day on Ebay for WELL BELOW what GM asks for it!
