Hey everyone ...
AveoClub/AveoForum has a new lease on life, under new management.
Former admin Matt (exodus) has moved on to other things, and we'd like to introduce ourselves: AveoClub/AveoForum's new owners/admins are Tim (Daox) and Darin (MetroMPG).
You probably noticed by now that the board has been thoroughly cleaned up. We spent many, many hours de-spamming the forums, tidying up your existing threads, deleting the threads started by spammers, and killing their accounts. (Removed over 10,000 posts and nearly 6,000 user accounts.)
We upgraded the forum software and have put other security measures in place to prevent that from happening again.
And who exactly are "we"?
We're a couple of gearheads with different automotive backgrounds:
Tim (Daox) has lots of performance mods under his belt on his various cars (Toyota Paseo / Tercel), like:
- a custom, one-of-a-kind supercharger setup
- full custom exhaust
- built a custom turbo manifold
- fabricated/sold various bits like a master cylinder brace and intake manifold insulating gasket
- shaved and DIY ported head
- other typical stuff like springs, strut bars, underdrive pulleys, headers, cold air intakes, adjustable cam pulley
Darin (MetroMPG) has a "pre-Aveo" - a Pontiac Firefly (Canadian market Geo Metro), which used to be GM's entry level car before the Aveo came along (not counting the few years in between where the Cavalier was the bottom of the company's food chain). He was once a driving instructor and recovering track day / racing school junkie. These days the mods he's into are mostly about increasing fuel efficiency:
- gear swaps
- cam swap
- electrical system mods
- a pile of practical and experimental aerodynamic mods
- complete electric conversion (he and a buddy converted a Geo Metro to 100% electric / battery power)
We're here to stay
We realize a lot of members gave up on this site due to the flood of spam and the admin being unavailable to help sort it out (we don't blame you -- probably would have done the same thing ourselves).
For those of you who will be sticking around, we want you to know we're on top of things and committed to the long-term future of the forum. For fun, and to reward your patience, we're holding a contest to give away some automotive swag.
See: >> Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGauge <<
We're looking forward to improving the site and getting to know you.
