New Features Added: Mobile skin and Tapatalk

We've been working on some new features for the forum for a little while now. These features are aimed at making it easier and more convenient for mobile (smartphone & tablet) access.

First up, we now have a mobile skin. It streamlines things a bit, and is better formatted for the smaller screen of a phone. To switch to the mobile skin, scroll to the bottom of the forum and select it from the drop down menu. To return to the full site, click the 'full site' link at the bottom of the page.





We also added Tapatalk as an option. For those that don't know, Tapatalk is an app for your smartphone or tablet. Tapatalk also formats things nicer and makes browsing the forum a little easier than the full blown site. To use this, you must download the Tapatalk app.



While the mobile skin & Tapatalk make it easier to read/reply in the forum on a phone, be warned that some features you're used to on the full site are not available on mobile. One example: to view or edit garages, you will have to use the full site. (We are looking at fixing this.)

Each of these new feature has its plusses and minues. That is why we added both of them to the forum. Try them out and let us know what you think!

Also...

We have no control over Tapatalk (in terms of features). That's a third party app.

But we'll be able to work on the forum's mobile theme somewhat. I've already found another one I want to test that has more features. Just need some time to investigate more and play with them.

Sweet, now I can access the forums anywhere I please! This will be great for On the Fly help!

If I were so inclined I would LOVE to make a Mobile App for the Aveo/Sonic community. It would bridge the flexibility of the facebook group, and the forum into one convenient place. I seriously doubt that anyone has done this, and I think it would be awesome! Anyone have the connections to make it happen? lol

I'm curious of how much traffic to the forum has increased since implementing this app. Any admins wish to shed some light on this? I'm curious to hear the "numbers".

It's a bit too soon to see any big trends, but the number of Tapatalk users seems to be growing. Since launching it, we've had 15 forum posts made via TT.

TT says:

Estimated Forum Members Using Tapatalk currently: 0.12%

That's based on ~7k total members, so about 8 users, and growing. Considering the most active members are probably the ones using it, that's not bad.
