Apologizes if this is a really dumb question.
How do 0-60 times get worked out? For example, if our Aveo's/Barina's go from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, how do they work that out? Do they floor it? Go no higher than a certain RPM?

that time seems a little off as the 2008-2010 cobalt ss with 260hp does 0-60 in 5.8 sec
(im not try to be a smart a$$ )
its an average of "successful" attempts at a drag strip.

Here in Australia, yes, but I'm sure the same principles apply on how 0-60 times are recorded.
Reason I asked the question to begin with, is because I did a rough calculation when I wanted to test my 0-60. From a stationary start obviously, I think I got to 60 in about 3-4 seconds, but I did floor it. Hence why I asked if they floor it when they do the test or go no higher than a certain RPM.
Depends on the car and the best way to launch it, but most if not all will just floor it as you say.
