      2004 vs. 2008

ok so everyone knows my 2004 sadan had a little problem with the motor and it was fixed. But i had a 2008 aveo 5 for a rental car for the 15 days my aveo was in the shop. i had a few things i liked and a few things i didn't like.

Pro's....... the radio had a front plug for my Ipod on the 2008
Lumbar support on the drivers side seat on the 2008
      Cuise Control on the 2008

Con's....... Aveo 5 seemed smaller then the sadan
the Gear shift on the 2008 was a straight shot in a line the 2004 has a patern (Automatic's)
2008 has a button on the shift knob to take out of park and for putting in rev. the 2004 you push down to put in Rev.

If you own a 2004 and have driven the 2008 for more then a test drive Post what you like about the new ones and also what you don't like about the new ones.

You did WHAT? to your Aveo? HAHAHAHAHA

I would really like to hear some reviews of the new engine vs. old engine.
      Is it the same transmission?

09 gets the new engine, 08 has the same engine as the 04
Its more fun to drive a slow car fast, rather than drive a fast car slow!

The interior on the 08 seems to have a much better fit and finish. Ride quality is improved... but it's still craptastic on the highway, especially when it's windy. Can't comment on the engine since my car is a 5sp and the 08 was an AT. The seats are nicer, the color of the interior in general is more to my preference. The middle console is better. Its quieter.

      Re: 2004 vs. 2008

Here's my review for my 2008 Aveo5 Special Value model:

Pros: Good Exterior looks( I like the older style better, don't care much for the newer sedans)
Smaller( I also like small cars, the smaller, the better)
Excellent gas mileage( I've been able to get 40 if I really baby it)
      Comfortable seats! Good lumbar support.
Simplicity. theres very few bells and whistles to deal with, just good old cheap, simple transportation.
I like the tiny gauge display, like a little bubble on the dash. It doesn't get all up in your face like some do.

Cons: Interior plastic parts still feel cheap and flimsy, not improved over the '04 at all.
the two-tone interior with the entire dash being black isn't that great looking. Liked the grey dash with black console better.
there's more road noise in the hatchback than the sedan, and theres not as much insulation
the highway vibration that most Aveo owners have experienced is still there, nothing has been done about it.
the outside mirrors on this bodystyle are really flimsy, I've already broken one once when folding it in.

Overall there's a lot of trade offs, but I like the older style best, and the hatchback better than the sedan.
