Standard warranty is 3yr./60,000 km which you seem to have passed unless you have an extended warranty package.....if you do all of your servicing at the dealer i know sometimes they may extend the warranty 1 time as a reward for your loyalty.

Hopefully they do. I had it in a few weeks ago for a sensor fix as it was not starting on the first turn of the key and that was not covered so we will see. I will call later this week and if not covered i will change it myself. They really are great commuter cars. When i first moved out to the country i bought 2 -01 cavaliers then a 04 cavalier show car and a 04 aveo and now the 09s and these are the first problems i have had with any of them.

im not sure what canada has, but didn't they have a 100k mile powertrain? i would hope the thermostat that ensures it doesn't over heat would be covered under that.

Thats what i am hopeing The car has a 5 year 160,000 powertrain warranty and it is an important part for sure. The wording is everything back of the thermostat housing is covered. We all know the thermostat is in the housing so will see.

the standard thermostat is designed to keep the aveo at about 88C and the needle on the gauge starts moving at 50C, so it will take longer to start the needle moving, now on my aveo i have noticed that i get up to temp at the same spot, no matter how cold, we have already hit -35C just 5 hours north of Edm. and it warmed up just as fast as -10, and i do the same commute every day, 120 km each way.

I thought my 85k commute was long. I called today and it is covered underwarranty . At first the girl my wife was talking to said no but 1/2 hour later she called back with the good news.
