      2007 wave OBD version?

      Thinking of buying a OBD reader but dunno where to find what version my 07 wave has, I'm told OBD is 08 and later but unsure

      Everything from 1996 to now is OBDII; as long as the code reader you choose adheres to the OBDII standard, it will be more than capable of reading the codes in your car. Whoever told you that OBDII is 08 and later was likely referring to the CAN bus communication protocol; which is how the various controllers in the car talk to each other and share data to make the various parts of your car work. The CAN bus was introduced in 08 to prepare for the more advanced LXV engine which came a year later.

      Is it worth buying one of those 20.00 OBD on Amazon or should I save for a couple hundred dollar one?

      buy a cord or bluetooth device that plugs into the port, then use your android or iPhone (even a laptop) to run/pick software to read it.

      If you spend any amount of money on a cheap scanner, I can't guarantee it will give anything more than generic codes. You have much more chance of getting a better scanner on a smart phone, just need to hook it up to the car.
