I'm working on an 09 5 speed. Replaced the shift equalizer and now trans won't go into reverse or neutral. Also (with engine NOT running) without depressing clutch I can move shift lever to any gear position.
HELP PLEASE
Thanks

the bolt on the end of the rod at the firewall is the adjustment point. I would verify the transmission is in reverse, then loosen the adjustment bolt, and move the shifter to reverse. Make sure the transmission did not shift! Then tighten the bolt and check the gears.. If anything it will be close enough but sloppy.
Turning the two rods around the axis are the side to side adjustment, sliding the rods in and out are the forward reverse movement.
For future reader: I marked mine with a piece of tape to mark depth of the connection and then drew a line in the tape to set the axis placement. It was 90% there when reconnected, but still needed some adjustment to be perfect. (although I installed a 30% shorter throw)
Thanks man, I appreciate the help. I found out it was missing the rod too, so that didn't help lol. I've never done this on an Aveo so I didn't know what all was supposed to be there.
they are all important. If the shifter is still sloppy one of the best things you can do is replace the weird drop in pin with the T clip on it with a bolt and washer. I forget the exact size that is proper fit 3/8? maybe. but it tightens up the shifter a lot.
