2011 Aveo seems to run too hot...

My new 2011 Aveo hatchback 1LS seems to be "overheated" or hot after driving about town...no warning lights...just has a hot smell, if that makes sense.

Is this a normal thing? If not, can a better air filter, or even better than "factory installed" plugs help with this? I should mention it has very low miles as I have had it about a week.

I appreciate any feedback, and thanks!

I would not worry about it too much, something is maybe burning off somewhere, I would take it to the dealer and see what they say though. There is a temperature gauge on the cluster, where does it sit when the car is fully warmed up?

The temp. appears to be within the normal range, but I will check that out again...yea, just seems very hot when we pull into the garage after going to the grocery, or other simple chores...takes a very long time to cool down

GM cars/engines drive with higher temps than other cars overall it seems, it does take a while to cool down though

It's a stainless steel exhaust system. Chevy never mentions it as a selling point (because GM is stupid not to), but generally they are only found on much more expensive cars. You will be glad it has it as the years go by, as it won't rust like an ordinary exhaust would. Another of my cars is a 22 year old Mitsu Galant and it has all the original stainless exhaust with the exception of the front pipe, which I replaced 5 years ago. Don't be surprised if it makes weird pinging noises while cooling down as well. My Aveo doesn't make the weird noises but my Mitsu did for the first few years.

Also, beware of running over loose, flying plastic bags. If one gets caught anywhere on your exhaust it will stink like hell until it burns off. It can happen on any car, from a brand new one to an old clunker.

How many miles are on it? If your still breaking it in, there will be alot of weird, mysterious smells. Dont be too worried as long as the guage says your ok and your not spewing steam from under the hood. Sometimes we get weird smells in our Scooby but were also still breaking it in. And Cariann isn't all that great with the clutch yet, but shes getting there.

You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

Thank you all for the response...the Aveo has 95 miles on it and these comments make alot of sense...and the temp. remains in the normal range the whole time...again, thanks, folks!
