my ac doesn't work, i press the button the light goes on, but no cold air and no sound of the ac ingaging.
has this happend to any one else, it might have happed when i got my deck hard wired this winter, but didn't think of checking the ac in the winter fot operation.
do u have a SRI? if u do, there is a wire harness under where ur intake tube would be. 3 wires, red, white, and blue if im correct. check those and make sure none of the wires are broke. thats y my ac dont work. just a thought.

Try jumping the compressor to see if the clutch engages. if it does engage then you have a wiring problem. I have my MAC certification(mobile air copnditioning) so i can help you if you need it
im hvac certivified with ozone deplition.
my problem is were thouse wires go in to the sensor on the high pressure side, but its not my wires its the actual pipe is broken right after the sensor and my refrigerant is in the sky right now, all caz my stupied cold air intake was pushing on top of that sensor. the replacement pipe is 130$ from chevy, and will come in on in 3 days, they want 400$ for the install and 1 lb of r134a, im just gona do the work myself.
well at least u found the problem. ugh 130$...
got my parts, and removed the old piping but it was nerly imposible to do with out pulling carelessly on to the pipes, so im fearing that i would not be able to install the new high pressure line with out breaking something an that would be weiste of 130$. The dealer wanted 400$ for the job, but it should be cheaper now caz i did half the work. or should i trust my car to a small shop?

i too, hate paying people to fix my car. but if you really feel you cant do it, then that may be the option to go. they got the tools and know-how to do it and hopefully do it right. good luck, dont forget to call around and get quotes.
Get them to do a pressure test with nitrogen before filling the car up with R134a. If they detect no leak, make sure they still put dye and oil with the refrigerant.Quote:

It funny and must be spreading this no a/c issue. Mine is not working either. Took my Aveo to my cousins repair shop and hooked it up to the machine, checked the charge in the system, and it was full, checked all the fuses and relay for it, all are good, press the button on the dash, light comes on,and no a/c!! Damn, I hope I'm not off to the dealer again. I'm out of warranty!! Any suggestions, or something I missed? The compressor clutch does not seem to be engaging!!

So when the Ac Clutch is engaging or clicking on and off every minuet or so and no cold air is coming out still inside the car what would be the recommended next step?
I just popped the hood on mine and listened for the click but it was clicking faster then every minute.
if you are trying to fix it yourself, then jump the pressure switch and see if it stays on.. if it does you either need a switch or a charge (or uncharge). If it still cycles on and off post back.
Rabbit Thanks for chiming in. I've seen you suggest this before in other threads. Where exactly is the pressure switch? Can you post a picture? I'm going to take a picture and post it and I'll label what I think is the Pressure switch if you can't and maybe we can figure it out that way.
A little back story to this ac situation. Back in the beginning of June I had taken the Car to Firestone they checked it and replaced the service port seals . They also recharged the system. It was cold for about the duration of the ride home which was about 4 miles or like 10-15 mins. The next time i go to turn the AC on no cold at all.
I already spent $140 at Firestone. I don't see any pressure readings on the paperwork they gave me then so I'm feeling a little ripped off. I'm trying not to spend to much on this. I was fixing to just buy a brand new AC compressor with a new clutch already attached and have a local mechanic put it it and recharge. Before I jump the gun i'm just trying to trouble shoot this myself to see if maybe there is a more cost effective solution.
it you look at the AC line that runs along the passenger side of the engine, right about the back side of the head there is a wiring plug attached to the AC line. The is the pressure switch. You disconnect it, turn the AC on with the car running, and the jump the switch on and off a few times to see the it cycles. Once you know that it cycles on and off with the switch, jump it into the running position and see if the AC runs constantly. Check to see if it will blow any colder than typical. (this is really where you should have gauges to check the pressures). But if it runs steady and does not cycle on and off. You could buy a can of r12 and top off the low side until it blow cool enough.. (again best to have some gauges to set it properly.)
I installed my own ac, and refilled it to what the book said. I found it was not really cool. So I topped it of myself as well.
I was thinking about doing it myself I was just concerned about the oil and contamination. I didn't want to risk the chance of contaminants getting into the system and screwing stuff up more.
So you put in a new compressor or the whole system? After you installed you bought a recharge kit and got it working properly?
i put in the whole system using parts i sourced from junk yards. ( i had to go to a Chevy dealer to turn on the ECU).
After i installed everything, I hooked it up to an AC machine, pulled vacuum on the machine and then charged the system. The amount the book called for sounded low at the time, but thats what i went with. It blew cold in the shop, so i let it go.
On my way to work, a few hours later it was warm, so i topped it off with one of those cans and a hose deals. And it works fine most of the time, except for when its heat index 100+ in stop go traffic and you really need it.
