Ass end wiggle, is this normal?

      2004 Aveo 1.6

At freeway speeds, if I make a hardish steering correction (into or out of a curve), the rear of the car will wiggle a bit after. It’s odd as I’ve never experienced this with any other car, even my sonic. The rear suspension pivot bushings “look” ok, and there is no evidence of the axle shifting left or right on them. Ideas?

Yes, your car YAWS! (search yaws)

Mine did it from new and it turned out to be the rear shocks!
When they were fitted, the top nut was over-tightened on both.
This was fixed by jacking the rear, leaving the wheels on, just touching the ground.
Reaching in over/around the wheel, then removing the shocks with the top brackets intact.
Then, carefully loosen, then re-tighten the top nut, one finger, small ring spanner, match the tension both sides.
The shaft must be allowed to flex.
New shocks are cheap, I went for Monroe Sens-a-Track.
      Then re-fit the shocks!

Well, we’ll see what happens. I’m installing a set of Gabriel ultras later today.

New shocks are in and I took a 50 mile highway round trip this evening and the ass wiggle seems....better, but I’m not sure if pivot bushings are worn. It seems that there may be just a bit of wiggle left. I’ll keep an eye on the bushings for now.

You may find the springs are a bit soft/sagged, this will put more stress on the shock's shaft and top mount, not tight, one finger, short spanner.. for the rest, that's up to you.

Bushings maybe? No clicking noises of any sort? Just my 2c I have to do the pivot bushings and once one does two one may as well do 'any other ones around' so to speak. Is the ass end tilting to left and right, or is it more like a frame jiggy thing? Perhaps a bit off the troubleshooting topic, but a sway bar would do you well, too
