is the aveo really that bad?

Alright, I'll admit it, the aveo isn't made to be tuned or raced really. But I see a lot that everyone is hating on the aveo even when its just being normally driven. I haven't had any major problems with my aveo, other than that one crank sensor issue I had when I first purchased it. I see a lot online, mostly YouTube vid comments that it sucks and its a POS.

Is it me or are they just retarded? It's a decent car, its not made for anything BUT fuel economy and some nice comfort and decent features on the inside. Like anything else, if you try to use something for something it wasn't made for, you're not going to get good results. Iono, it just irritates me that it has such a bad rep, even though its a nice car.

I am NOT a race car driver.

No matter what car you get, there will be some haters out there. Just look at how we hate on the Fit! And YouTube is espically full of haters, just look at some guitar hero, video blogs, or indy bands. I just say it's a cheap car with decent gas milage and make them feel like an idiot when I say, "I average 38mpg but I've gotten 51mpg out of mine before, what have you got?" I just let the rest roll off my shoulders because I know they are just trying to impress me with money "my car is fast and looks cool because it's expensive." Well then sir, you are an idiot if that's all you're concerned about. For some reason I always think of this commerical: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hn5EP9StlVA

People have always hated on small cars. When I read criticisms of the aveo; or any small car, I find they are typically coming from people who: cant drive because they are too young, or compare the Aveo as being slow, small, unsafe, and unreliable compared to their pickups, SUVs etc, Also their price point gives them a perceived cheapness; despite being well equipt and of good build quality, or they see them as fleet vehicles for rental companies and only encounter them after thier SUVs have broken down or rolled over.

Often these people seem to have in mind that the quality of this market segment has not progressed and compare them to small cars of the mid 80's early 90's(ie first generation accent, Geo Metro, and early Civics) where things like power steering, power windows and other amenities were occasionally optional, if at all.

They are all right car. I wouldn't say good build quality, but decent for the price.

Power windows are still optional btw lol.

The wife likes it but we may be trading it in on a Saturn View Hybrid...
I might just keep it to be my beater tho.

You get what you pay for.

If someone wants to bitch about the Aveo. Tell them to spend more.

I bought an inexpensive car to comute in. Get's better gas milage than others and a clean little, cheap, Car.

      It's perfect

Im not saying power windows are standard equipment. Im saying that as far back as 15 years ago things like power windows werent even options on lower end cars. Up until about 2001 power steering was still an option on many vehicles, like the accent and Swift, now it is standard.

Glad to hear some people speak up for the little guy. I love my 08 sedan and would rather drive it than my 07 Pontiac Vibe. I find it very comfortable and easy to drive. I think some people just think it's bad because its at the bottom of the "food chain". Chances are, most of them have never even driven one.
Some people are like slinkies...not really good for anything...but they still bring a smile to your face when you push em down the stairs

exactly. I know I never wanted anything with it until I drove one. I was so impressed, I bought one hehe.

I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
