The cars are great. You do get what you pay. But if you are like me and don't want a car payment but do want something small, economical with a warranty it definitely fits the bill. I now have 28K on it and have had only minor issues to contend with. We typically choose to drive this car over our other cars because of the mileage, its ease of navigating and parking downtown and it is fun to drive. I get alot of compliments due to the simple changes of tires/wheels/tint.

to all those haters out there,
i would just like to say that i bought my 04 sedan in july of 04 brand new, as of right now it has 80000 miles on it, i run it to death in the commuter rush morning and night, i replaced the stock tires at 50000 miles, and just now had to do brakes. car has never let me down, gets great gas mileage everyday and is pleasure to do all of my daily errands in. if you dont like it, go buy an import pos and pay double for it!

Now we just have to get some recognition from the aftermarket industry...

Re: is the aveo really that bad?

Here's the deal. I see the haters too, but I tend to ignore them.
      Let me count the ways:
      1) Most of the reviews in Magazines are done from people who don't own an Aveo, and don't drive one every day. Heck, if I was driving a BMW yesterday, a Navigator tomorrow, and going home in my Porsche, I may find the Aveo quite lacking too!
      2) Even as we can do some things to pump up our little Aveos, as stated earlier, they are not race cars. They are sub-compact economy cars. I have accepted that, and as I may not like going up the mountain as much in my Aveo, I certainly do like the time between fill ups, and the 11.X gallon tank.
3)I think of the Aveo, like I thought of the Geo/chevy. They get picked on a lot, but Chevy sold the hell out of the Geo, and does sell the hell out of the Aveo. (By the way, I had a 1992 Metro LSI Convertible that I still remember as one of the best cars I have owned) And I still see the Geo Metro rolling about town, so I don't even count those guys out yet!
      4) I paid $15,000 out the door for my completely loaded 2008 Aveo LT, with PW/PL, AT, ABS, AM/FM/CD/MP3 6 spkr, Alloy wheels, Leather Interior, Spoiler, and Alarm w/keyless entry. Lets see ya find an 08 Civic, Lancer, or even a FIT or Yaris decked out the same for that price!

To the haters, I say, "Hate on! Pass me by and laugh! I ain't stressing it. My Aveo is everything I want and need in a car!"

Well said genefitz! Personally, the Aveo is a great car at a great price and for each penny that gas goes up in price another two or three people ask me about it with a little jealousy towards the gas mileage I am getting.
2008 Chevrolet Aveo LS sedan - 13,230 miles
      2008 Mercury Mountaineer AWD 4.0L V6 - 34,920 miles
      2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS 4x4 4.2L I6- 95,870 miles

The Aveo is a mature GEO Metro. That is why I bought it. I get 34 combined. It has the Geo feel of being a large yeas. My only disappointment is with the electronics clock and radio display. I will be driving the 04 for at least the next 5 years.

i love my aveo, and i have an 04 sedan. if you dont like the radio change it. its no big deal compared to the amount of gas you'll be saving.

Re: is the aveo really that bad?

That is kind of my point. When you see people complain about the Aveo, they aren't the people who own one. I see a lot of "I rented one." or "my friend owns one" But you rarely hear the complaints from the people saying "I own one."
When the Aveo first was released, Chevy had a deal going on, "Buy a full size pickup, get an Aveo for free," which scared people about it first, and I will admit, when I first saw the Aveo (5 door) I passed over it and started looking at the Cavalier. I originally thought it was ugly. I didn't warm up to the Aveo until I saw the Sedan model, and test drove it. After that, however, I fell in love.
What the haters don't see about the aveo, that the daily drivers see:
It gets great gas mileage, It handles like a dream, It has a bunch of space on the interior, it is comfortable, as it may not be the most powerful, it has enough to do what needs to be done.
