The Aveo is just a dream to drive on so many different levels in comparison to my Suburban. As I was growing up it was all trucks. 86 K-5 Blazer to 94 Suburban to 99 Tahoe to current 02 Suburban. Who knows? Its just so easy to zip in and out of traffic, easier to park, easier to manuever, gets great gas mileage, and really doesnt ride that bad, plus mines an automatic. What more could I ask for? When I bought mine new in July of 04 it was $9000.00, tax, title, tags. of course I only have three options, auto, a/c, and the mp3 disc player. I have 80000 miles on it now, and I want a new 09 hatchback, but I cant bear to part with my sedan. I chose my avatar because its the same color, same body style, and it looks like my car.

The Aveo is a fantastic car, even if MPG isnt your concern( like myself ) They feel much bigger than they are, in my opinion they dont look bad ( especially the 08+ Sedans ) there is allot of potential for this little car. There is even a shop near my home in Columbus ohio, that build up GM 4-Cylinders, and claim to have a 226HP Aveo, of the stock motor ( again claim, I have seen the car, but no the dyno)

As far as interior room goes its great. I'm 6ft 1" and 300lbs and the biggest guy at my job, who just happens to drive the smallest car and I am very comfortable in it. Gas mileage is great and its super easy to drive, and with the way fuel prices keep increasing my Suburban may rust to pile of dust and be blown away by the wind before I spend a lot of time driving it. I love to see the evolution of a car that when it came out people sort of laughed at it. Not a bad car for a all grown up Geo.

The wife likes it but we may be trading it in on a Saturn View Hybrid...
I might just keep it to be my beater tho.
I alamost bought a Saturn Astra Hatch, nice car, but feels exactly like the cobalt. Plus wierd as it is I'm 6'3" and I have more leg room in my 09' Aveo5 than a cobalt.

      Let me count the ways:
      1) Most of the reviews in Magazines are done from people who don't own an Aveo, and don't drive one every day. Heck, if I was driving a BMW yesterday, a Navigator tomorrow, and going home in my Porsche, I may find the Aveo quite lacking too!
      2) Even as we can do some things to pump up our little Aveos, as stated earlier, they are not race cars. They are sub-compact economy cars. I have accepted that, and as I may not like going up the mountain as much in my Aveo, I certainly do like the time between fill ups, and the 11.X gallon tank.
3)I think of the Aveo, like I thought of the Geo/chevy. They get picked on a lot, but Chevy sold the hell out of the Geo, and does sell the hell out of the Aveo. (By the way, I had a 1992 Metro LSI Convertible that I still remember as one of the best cars I have owned) And I still see the Geo Metro rolling about town, so I don't even count those guys out yet!
      4) I paid $15,000 out the door for my completely loaded 2008 Aveo LT, with PW/PL, AT, ABS, AM/FM/CD/MP3 6 spkr, Alloy wheels, Leather Interior, Spoiler, and Alarm w/keyless entry. Lets see ya find an 08 Civic, Lancer, or even a FIT or Yaris decked out the same for that price!

To the haters, I say, "Hate on! Pass me by and laugh! I ain't stressing it. My Aveo is everything I want and need in a car!"
Right on, genefitz! Another former geo convertible owner! I have the same opinion, the Aveo has alot of the same qualities the metro had, but it really takes off where the metro left off in terms of comfort, safety and handling. It's one of those cars that everyone will own at least once in their life, and even if they got picked on for it, they will still remember it fondly.

      Mines been fantastic.

I got exactly what I paid for. I feel I actually got more in terms of reliability (60k, troublefree)
      and fit-finish is excelent.

A couple of minor flaws in the form of some unusual sounds now and then. - but there again, its still performing within the amount I paid to have it.

And on top of that, its far better than the new 1997 Cavalier I tried to own back then.
