I most likely won't buy a non daewoo built aveo anyhow. It's the only chevy I had that was not their typical people mover build quality.

I'm not cynical or anything about the aveo. Just the business practices of the big 3 and also recognizing the fact that every manufacturer neglects the us (sometimes Canadian) market with a certain premonition that the cars won't sell here.

i read in USA Today article that the aveo is going to be no longer made in Korea... GM and the Unions have agreed on a non-union work force that will build new sub-compact cars out of Michigan. it will kinda be the aveo, but because they want to build them in the USA now they are changing the name.

I wrote 'GM. I strongly oppose the notion that built here means the car is doomed and negating it as substandard because it will be built here also defies my understanding.

Reading a few articles speculating on or drawing an unsubstantiated conclusion that a name change is afoot as though it's already a statement of fact isn't convincing. Show me the proof, otherwise I look forward to GM building the US built A V E O in 2012, alongside the upcoming Buick Verano, which incidently, in Spanish, means summer. Next summer, you know, alongside the "desire" to build interest in smaller cars. Like a better Aveo.

And if they chose a new name what would it be? Viva? The name that Bob Lutz very publically deep-sixed over a year ago? So now that he's retired they'll reverse his no nonsense, common sense approach? Really? That would be bright.

I ain't justifying this segment with any more attention. Blather away boys, if you so desire.

You're a little late to the party. Use the search function. The topic's already been covered here. The cars will be built at the new Lake Orion Assembly Plant in Michigan.

We know they wont be calling it the Vega. - too bad in my opinion. But the journalistic press slanders that car any chance they get.. it's as easy as picking on the runt of a litter.

And the same with the Monza, just not so bad. even GM act's like they never heard of the car. (probably because they'll never make something so irresonsible ever again [ a V8 engine on 13" tires?? Yikes!] ) Yet the tear- drop side window profile showed up on the Cav, and the Cobalt.

It's ok though, I think both names are a little to odd, for the masses. Then again...Aveo is too -Ahveeo/aVAYO.
