You'd probably get a cease and desist order from Volkswagen Auto Group. Their VAG is over 80 years old.
:P
It's a keeper! GM would be nuts to drop it now.
작별! (That's Korean for: "goodbye!")

So here's the latest, just to keep us wondering.
It appears pretty clear that the Aveo name will continue to be used globally at least, based on GM's most recent press release (Oct 15):
source: Chevrolet Aveo Begins Global Rollout in 2011The new Aveo small car is expected to be rolled out globally after entering the Korean market in the first half of 2011.
figured the name was going to stay the same, no need in changing it
If they do, it sure makes me wonder why the North American president raised the name issue in the first place.
I'm still not 100% convinced they're set on using it within North America. I'll believe it when I see it in on the dealer lots, or when I read a quote from the prez saying "no, wait - what I said before, that was dumb. We're keeping the name in the USA."
lol they should be thankful they are still around, not like the na president really would have the final say in it anyways
Ok, Does anybody know why they picked AVEO in the first place? Been looking around and I can't find a definition for it. I know it's not a great name. What kind of car do you drive? I drive an Aveo. A what! How do you say that, A VEE OO?
I do like the name for the Honda Fit. Some how it fits. I hate the name for the prius. I can't even say it right. I do like driving them (GF has one). I like the stealth mode.
We could call it it the urinate, the small car to piss around town.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

Laughed at urinate.

- looking for a first gen Aveo for a daily driver :D
I'm not convinced there's a "correct" pronunciation. It seems to depend on where you live.
In interviews, the head designer (Australian) of the Aveo RS concept repeatedly said Aveo in a way I'd never heard before (same emphasis as "avenue"... like "AVeeoh").
EG. Canadians and Americans don't say "Celica" the same way.
Brits say "Prius" quite differently than North Americans. (And not just with a different accent.)
The call it pricks like the people who drive them?
