failure is probably due to a pivot tear. hard to say what would cause it, but it obviously happens enough to warrant checking the issue. I though for sure with the added strain on the bushings at my ride height that my bushings would be shot by now too. But they are doing fine for now.

The rear disk kit is in "order" it just requires some clearance to be made.. Where the spindle mount on the axle comes back around. Aside from that, you need mk4 calipers, then i suggest going with adjustable valves, and I am still working out the E brake.

I am going to wait on the rear brake and focus on getting it back on the road. I am going to buy coil over struts and drop it once I get a good rear axle dead beam. I do have a question about the springs. If replace the rear shocks with coil over struts would I put the springs back in or leave them out?

      Thanks for your help Rabbit!

Step one is complete: Fix the rear axle beam and replace the brakes. So far it's ok. It drives ok. Can't tell any alignment issues so far. The brakes are complete mush. Can't tell if if I put them together wrong or if there is air in the lines. Personally I too tired to work on it anymore today. I will check the brakes bleed tomorrow again.

I got a new (junk yard) beam and painted it so it will be glorious.

After much effort I got the beam back onto the car with a little help of screwdriver:

It take a lot of effort to get the rear axle beam back onto the car. While one side is screwed attached the other side is way out of alignment and some encouragement is needed.

Here is the car on the tires after the test drive:

Now with the slick rims, slick tires and slick painted hubs:

Brake color paint: Last night when I took my hubs off and readjusted the pads. I got to looking at the black I painted my rear hubs. I came to conclusion that it's boring! That pale arctic blue is a hard color to coordinate. Suggestions for color?
      Orange: Compliment
Yellow: Good Safety Color and I like yellow
Red: Hard to match with body color
      Purple: Might be cool

      Suggestions?

Silver? Not too flashy, but its not boring. You'll see it through the spokes. It'll match the wheels and the paint job of the car without sticking out like a sore thumb.

Very good suggestion. I do the like the idea of using a primary color. Silver in a way is a bit boring BUT in this case it is a very good suggestion as the blue paint color is a metallic. That will match very nicely. So what about taking your suggestion and combine with yellow to make gold.

I was getting ready to order Mk II coil overs from Rokkor or Raceland. I wanted to go with the racelands, however they charge 60 bucks shipping for their cheapest option. So I found these on EBAY:
2 Way Adjustable coilover Kit for VW Jetta MK2 1984 1992 | eBay

Has anybody any experience with this brand? This will save from 430 down to 350. A bit O'savings. So I know these are pretty much low rent coilovers, just wanted something better than stock and adjustable.

The new junk yard door on the car. Honestly it's not a great paint job, but for now it passes. Once I get everything fixed, the whole car will need to be painted. I maybe doing a slight color change to something a little darker and cooler

Now I started working on the radiator support. I have made a lot more progress than what's showing. I got the car on stands and started removing stuff.

I had mentioned that I would be painting the brakes again. I am using a two layer color approach. I shot with a basic gold onto the breaks then I followed up with a second color that is translucent to show off the gold. So it's a metallic bronze color. Going to look really great in the light.

      Front brake with first layer:
