Great thread! i might have to go find a deer.
OK Wow. I have noticed, I can't post pictures on other people's threads? Is that something against me? Or have I over allocated my own number of pictures.
OK onto my questions. I got my rear shocks installed. I have no idea where this well end up on height. The one thing that bothers me, is that when I am in a full extended position, the spring is no longer making contact with the top plate. Is this going to be an issue:
This is the coilover kit I got: 2 Way Adjustable coilover Kit for VW Jetta MK2 1984 1992 | eBay
It's Mark II for a Jetta. I hope I got the right ones....
OK now onto the front. I was looking at the assembly I think I need to remove the helper spring to get everything back into place.
Here is an other showing the inset side:
So this is the order I think I need to put things
From bottom up: spring, spring retainer (shiny part), nut, bearing, rubber bushing, car, top plate and then top nut.
Any confirmations will be helpful

So the MkII fit the back and not the front? And did you order a whole new bumper or just the lip? i dont like the 05 bumper i want something a little more boxy.
And when do you plan on playing with the new welding rig?
I got the lip. The bumper is not great but once I am done with it, it will gain some cool and wow factor. Mostly as I am debadging that crappy chrome chevy thingy.
I think the MKII kit fit the front, I just need a bit of help assembling the damn thing. I think I have it now. I think.

What all men do when they tear stuff, weld it back together. I pulled off my radiator support that was welded onto the car. Yesterday I did some practice runs and got started. Well some of the welds look great and some look like pure crap. I would put up picture however I did not take any yesterday.
I can show you this awful picture of me. This welding mask is about as butt ugly as you can get. It works well with the mig rig. No wonder people go out and buy something cool looking.

Progress to date:
The Radiator Support is officially on the car and I can close the hood. Previously with the deer knock back, the hood needed help to get it open.
OK my welds are not the best looking and honestly, it's a lot harder than it looks
One from the outside and the other two are from the inside, showing I at least penetrated the metal
The rust is from the over night rain.
Got my new coil overs on the car
Here is the special rabbit mod:
I then used the welder to repair the heat shield
I would show you my beautiful weld (sarcasm) but the dang camera focused on that lovely concrete.
That was pretty hard to do that above weld. I finally figured out how to just pop the trigger put tiny drops where they needed to be as that was some thin metal

those welds look as good as some of the body men i have worked with. Especially with the paint still around the metal. Do you still have the flux tip on it? In the picture your holding the welder, the shielding (black tube on end on the gun) looks like a flux set up, the "typical" gas tip would go from like even with the tip to an 1/8 past the tip the wire comes out of.. Like so
I am not sure I had a lot of posts to read. But the mk2 rear struts will work, but will over extend like you have seen, and will bottom out with less drop than those of us who are slammed. I only went to mk1 in the rear, and kept the mk2 fronts. But some guys are running mk1 all around. It just requires a little more grinding.
