      broken tensioner

anyone else have their accessory belt tensioner break? I've got 55,000 miles on my aveo and go figure I am heading off to move into my dorm and it breaks on the way there....luckily I wasn't to far away from home yet and my parents could drop me off.....probably should take it to dealer to get it fixed under warranty but i need it fixed right away...but last week i started to get a little rattle, but i thought it was my CAI rattling against something because I does that from time to time. Turns out it was the plastic tensioner falling apart lol.... always scary when you here and see sound something shooting out of your enginebay and out from behind the aveo...anyone else have it break?

the tensioner is plastic!?! thats a bad situation right there...

had the serpentine on my mustang gt break on me a few times. wrecked the flame retardent material that was under the hood but luckily that was all. very inconvenient, specially in the winter months.

did your car sound like an old wooden roller coaster going up the first steep part before it happened? The Probe was like that before it went out... luckily I replaced it before anything bad happened...

      when it rains it poors....
...since it was gonna be in the shop to get the tensioner fixed we also went ahead and got the timing belt changed. well im away at college and my dad sent me a picture of the old belt and it was missing quite a few teeth in a row (im at 55,000miles) so i dont know if that could be part of the reason my engine runs roughly at times....but has anyone else got the chance to see their belt after changing because I really dont know how it was still functioning with the amount of teeth it was missing.
but heres the kicker, when they had it up on the lift they also notices a stick jammed in the driver side axle area...go figure it got jammed into the rubber boot that protects the joint and ripped it open so now that axles has to be replaced....figures all this would happen when I go to go away for college and I need my car to get home on the weekends to work so I can afford the payments on the car...its the never ending circle
