Not wasting duct tape. Keeping my car warm in the winter. Without this the cold outside air blows directly in.And while I was there these cars have a tendency to blow foam particals at you out of the HVAC box because the flapper doors are covered in open cell foam that deteriorates throughout the years of heat and cold.
Ok I gotcha! I had a VW Rabbit and an Audi Fox that used to blow those particles at me on a regular basis. I always wondered why that happened and also wondered why it looked like I put pepper on my white bread with tuna when I know I didnt!

I did it the ghetto way as I plan to possibly swap to a MK3 dash at somepoint, which will require me to swap HVAC boxes. But the correct way is to pull the HVAC unit completely out and break it down. Cover the flaps in DUCT tape and refoam with CLOSED cell craft foam. We did this in my buddy's coupe a few years ago and it was AWESOME after that.
UNfortunately I am putting Bubba up for sale. I need a good running car and a friend of mine is selling his Toyota 4X4.
If anyone is interested PM me or I can start a FS thread if people would like.
Well, I decided not to sell this beast. I started repairing the rust a few weeks ago. Once that was done it was time to install the lifted suspension. In the process of this I figured out that the original trans would not bolt up to my bigger axles. So, a trans swap was planned, luckily I had one sitting in storage. Since I had the trans out, why not upgrade motors? RIGHT?? Well, that was easy!! I had a couple 2.0L motors sitting around so out with the 1.8L. Also, found out that with the lifted suspension it adds 2" of track width! This is great but I also now have to put in the longer tie rods from the parts Passat.
I currently have all the rust issues solved, front suspension is mounted(minus tie rods), and new motor and trans are sitting in the car. I'll work on getting pictures posted here shortly. And will hopefully have a few of the motor swap later this week.
