A/C compressor Sticker Shock

well, Scootaloo's A/C quit working a couple months ago, and subsequent diagnosis with a set of gauges and my FSM points to compressor failure. I jump on GMPartsDirect and this price greets me:



nearly $1000 for an A/C Compressor!?! on a car that has been out of production for NEARLY A DECADE!?! well, i scrolled down to see what cars this compressor fits and I see THIS:



the Special Snowflake LXV Engine Strikes again! I'm starting to get REALLY fed up with the near constant wallet raping GM is subjecting 2009-2011 Aveo and G3 owners for parts, and ANY communication with Chevrolet/GM pretty much ends with them trying to send me to the dealer anyway. I'm NOT going to spend 1/3 of Scootaloo's blue book value for air conditioning! for that amount of money, I could get a cheap beater car that I can run into the ground! (rant over)

Believe it or not, I have good luck with junkyard compressors. It’s an easy DIY swap, just get new o rings.

Did you check Rock Auto? May not be OEM but so far the one I helped install on a Yaris is doing just fine. You can usually find coupons for at least 5% off with minimal effort
