Can I run my Aveo without a thermostat

My car over heats, but I need to move it 75 miles(don't want to tow it) Will it hurt to drive it that far without a thermostat? Thanks

Just buy one and stick it on there, do not drive it.

cant see aveo being any different then v6 and v8 seen many pick up trucks in 70s and 80s that ran 100% all the time without them at least 3 different occasions.

the big difference in the 70-80 vehicles and the aveo is the full injection. Without a thermostat, you might send the wrong signals for temperature etc to the ecu ad mess with fueling.

If it is cold, you may get a check engine light because the engine doesn't reach operating temperature within the normal time range, but you shouldn't have any problems other than lousy fuel economy. I wouldn't do it long term because running rich (from running below optimum temperature) could shorten the life of the the catalytic converter.
Sorry GM, the Turbo Sonic was priced too close to the Focus ST. I gots me a Ford.

Make sure it seals properly, or you have some type of gasket set up, if you run it without one. The thermostat could easily be the gasket to keep coolant from leaking around it's housing. As for a 75 mile trip without one. If it seals fine, just give it plenty of time to reach operating temperatures. Especially if it's in the cold weather.

All in all though, the healthiest for the vehicle would be to just replace it where it is, they are very straight forward and easily accessible.

You can also try a lower temperature range thermostat. Im not sure what our factory is at, but they make them to open at a few ranges, talk to your parts dealer.
