      Car airbag wired through stero?

so i called future shop today looking for a deck mounting kit and the guy told me it was over 200$ i found out after that he was talking about a wiring harnes. He told me that in 2004 and up chevys they wire the air bag sensor into the head unit? is this true and why? also if i put a deck in without the harness will my air bags not function?

i had this issue swapping in a non onstar factory head unit, both airbag lights would come on if i turned on the headlights (mind you ALL the plug pins were labelled the same except the onstar pins). i eventually swapping in a onstar equipped factory cd because of it.

as i couldnt verify the airbags would go off or not, but it would be your fault with insurance because you knowingly disabled them.

Nothing in the 2004 schematic says anything about the SIR system being wired into the radio. Rabbit, was that the newer model Aveo?

mine is an 09, but from my understanding of onstar, it will effect any vehicle as they have the airbag went off warning signal?

I have a 2008 with no onstar and putting in an aftermarket stereo was no different for me than any honda. Mine had a cheap scoshe kit from wal-mart or something including dash mounting kit and wire harness. Those were already there from a previous owner swapping the stereo.

I will think of a better signature later.
