Dang! popped a tire on a pothole..

Certainly, its no one elses fault but my own. But it didnt help that my alignment, lets my car wander all over, and I'm frequently drifting around the highway instead of rolling straight ahead.

This time I wandered straight into a crater....Bam! I could tell this one was louder and more forcefull than usual.

I slowed down and what do I hear? PSSST PSSST PSSST PSSST .. as I rolled on.

I was only a few miles from my shop so I quickly turned around and headed straight back.

(incidentally I was headed to McDonalds for a late dinner...and I've been known to tell my friends that I'm the only one who can go out for $85 cheeseburgers. Meaning everytime I try to do something easy, it turns into a big waste of money. And sure enough it happened again)

Before I could make it back to the shop, the tire went completely flat, and was really putting up a fit.

I drove very slow, and hoped I wasnt doing any major damage.

I put a rear tire up front and the spare on back.

The local junk yards are saying there selling wheels as fast as they get them, as the factory rims seem pretty bendable. So I'm on the hunt for a wheel and tire.

One local place has rims for $45 and they have used tires available.

I'm trying to find a complete take-off though.

You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

Re: Dang! popped a tire on a pothole..

Update: I bought 2 decent tire's on some Civic rims for $50 from Craigslist.

The rims looked identical to the Aveo rims so I thought they might even bolt on.

The damn hubs are a hair too small !

I pounded my rim back into something that will probably roll, but never balance out good again.

So I guess I'll go to my buddies shop tomorrow and swap one of the tires over.

its 1/4 of a mm.. which is less than .010 inch.. i would hit it with same sand paper, or a file.. something.

not run a bent wheel, or pay $100 to have someone to the same thing..

Dremel would definitely work, just don't make it too big by doing it yourself...

Re: Dang! popped a tire on a pothole..

just have it sitting with the wheel off the car ready for a test fit,as soon as it fits, stop sanding obviously.
you are not going to be taking much off at all. like the thickness of 4 pieces of paper..?

so just spin the dremel around the edge a few time and test fit, and repeat..
