Do people make fun of you for driving an aveo?

Hey guys, for as long as i've had this car ive been getting quite the comments.

I love my aveo and i will stay with it until it can no longer run.
However other people seem to look down on compacts and cute looking cars. (my wife says it looks like a jellybean)

I've heard everything from "you drive a toy car" to "when are you getting a real car?"
I never take it seriously, but i hear it enough to think there is some sort of bias against these cars.

anyone ever had something familiar happen to them?

OH yeah. I hear it all the time. Not because it's small but because it's an inexpensive car. Doesn't bother me, I hate having a car payment!!

I get made fun of all the time.

One of my co-workers recently sent me a link where the Aveo was rated as one of "worst cars for new drivers." However, the other cars in the list included an S550 Mustang, a F-Type Jaguar, Corvette, some BMW, etc. You can't complain when your Aveo, which retailed for $10k, is being compared alongside $60k+ sports cars.

and flashbacks of Top Gear Season 13 Episode 3 come back to me (and to all of our UK members that Watched Top Gear back in 2009) when James may absolutely SLAMMED the Aveo for being "dull".

Every since I slammed it, haters always have something to say, but I have tons of fans and kids that love my car.

Of course everybody makes fun of the Aveo! I even do when I am driving my Aveo and see one on the road. My response is always the same "Damn, that's a small car and I drive that?" However sitting in my Aveo I feel like a zillion bucks as I zip around everybody.

Apparently this is an aspect of youth. When you get older and you and your friends no longer care about such things, it will pass.

As for zipping around everybody, and usually being able to get ahead of them - you are correct. I can do that in any car that I'm driving. Because it's not about the car. It's all about the driver.

That is what she said! I will say it's easier in the small car than my small truck depending how close you want to squeeze things. NC, SC, and GA are awful for drivers to sit in the left lane and there are moments when my patience gets the best of me. sigh The universe keeps giving me opportunities to learn patience and I continue to ignore them. Double sigh

For the speed you drive that depends on person, but for the movement like turn left and right that is mostly depends on the car, small car is much easy to turn. If you drive a bigger and longer car, you must move to the front more then you can turn.

This is what I have an experience on driving a "D" class car, for Aveo to turn left that is more easy, but last time I drive a biggest car, I turn left and drive to the bollard

I'm wondering who the "she" is in your life who said that.

I'm in NY. I've driven all over the USA and Canada. If you can drive on NYC highways you can drive anywhere on earth. Driving skills are not about the car. It's all about the driver.

Let 'em laugh. Maybe you have outgrown those types of "friends". Then you will smile and ignore them.
