Does 05 Aveo 1.6L 5-spd trans have a pilot bearing?

Look an an online parts catalog and see if pilot bearing is listed.

For what its worth, Rockauto lists a pilot bearing for an 08 Aveo, but not an 04.

There is also no pilot bearing listed on gmpartsdiect.com for an 04

well I went to the local GM dealer on Sat. the parts guy there was not a mechanic but he did his best looking thru the parts diagrams he even let me look thru the same diagrams as well we both could not see a pilot bushing listed.I just went on the gmpartsdirect.com and entered my vin # to look for this part with the same results.Rock auto dose list a pilot bearing with no picture only the size and there is noway that will fit. I believe the bearing they were selling was the input shaft bearing. Tomorrow I have another fellow look for me he is the parts manager at another GM dealer .Will keep you posted . did the small dia of the input shaft fit into the bushing (like a slip fit) also did the bushing come flush with the outside of the crank?

The "bushing" was flush with the end of the crankshaft. I remember measuring the hole in the bushing to make sure it was approximately the same diameter as the transmission input shaft, because the alignment tool was really sloppy and didn't fit want to center in the hole, and I got paranoid that the pilot bearing was destroyed. I just did a quick measurement, and it was close enough for me to think it was reasonable for a piloted fit. I couldn't find any specs for that in the manual; just the procedure and the tool for replacing it.

The internet (everything on the internet is always true!) shows ACDELCO 90142092 as a pilot bearing for an '05 aveo 5-speed. The only picture I saw was from Frugal Mechanic:

It doesn't look like what I envisioned at all; it appears to be a literal roller bearing, and not a bushing. I have to wonder now whether my discolored insert was just a mounting sleeve for this bearing, and this bearing was recessed back into the crankshaft.

I also have to question my measurements; I used a plastic Vernier caliper to measure the transmission input shaft, and if this bearing is accurate then I have no idea what I measured. Damn those late, dark nights.

Thank you very much for your input ; my gm parts guy had contacted me earlier today stated to me that yes there is a "sleeve" as he put it and believes its actually a roller bearing but not sure because he needed to order it. ( by the way he used my vin # to get the part ) Well I told him to order it and I will have it tomorrow.

I did go to another dealer on sat. and the parts guy there could not help me but said he will run this by some one with more experience on Monday. he also called me this morning and informed me that there is no pilot bearing of any kind (they did not have my vin # )

Any how tomorrow will tell and if it fits its going in. I just dont understand why it was not there in the first place . I will keep you all posted and let you know how i it plays out

well my conclusion is that there is no throw out bearing for my 1.6 liter . My gm parts guy did get me what was thought was the bearing which was the same one (part #) as meiermats but that was too big and I think that is the input shaft bearing .
being put back together in my free time will post how it turns out. Thanks for all your input.
