driving long distance in a 2009 aveo LT

      Hello everyone!

this is a quick question and im pretty sure i know the answer but i thougth i should ask anyway. I plan on moving to orlando FL in september and i was wondering if i should tow my car down there or would it be ok driviing it? I think because its a economy car it wasnt really ment for long drives that put alot on the engine (mainly staying at a steady 65 to 70 mph) but i could be wrong.

I've done 2 Florida runs in Scootaloo (1000 miles round Trip), and she does just fine! just make sure you have Cruise Control, or your Right shin is gonna HURT.

Yup, you're wrong. It's perfectly fine to drive an economy car long distances at highway speeds.

OK, I should have said: It's perfectly fine to drive an economy car long distances at highway speeds... if it's in good mechanical condition!

I hear you. Any interest in learning though??

I've saved myself a crapload of money over the years by learning to do my own maintenance & repairs. Also means I can comfortably own older cars (which means I've never had car payments). For the rare times I do have a pro mechanic do work, I don't have to take their word for it - they know I know what's going on.

I bought my first car, and the next thing I did was go to the library to got a book on "how engines work". Gotta start somewhere! Helps to have friends/family who can show you the ropes, too.

well, I have gone to School to learn how to work on today's cars, since I want to make it my living. it also helps having a MASSIVE Personal library of Automotive Textbooks, GM/AC Delco Training manuals, and Factory Service manuals at my disposal!
