The end is near!

Last month, GM only sold 65 (!) new 2011 Aveos in the United States, according to their own sales numbers.

Seems like they're rapidly running out of stock. I bet there aren't many left on dealer lots.

I get Google e-mail alerts with "Aveo" as a keyword, and I actually got one last week when someone posted on a different forum how come he couldn't find any new Aveos at dealerships where he lives. I guess he didn't get the memo about the Sonic.

I wonder if any more Aveo sales will show up this month.

The last month of Pontiac G3 sales showed 10 (!) sold - that was in January of last year.

I can only find two new Aveos in my city.

Yep, Sonic is the new Aveo. Cruze is the new Cobalt. Both discontinued so they can make noise about their "All New" cars and tack another $3-4K to the MSRP. That new turbocharged Ecotec 1.4 Liter (138hp) with the 6 speed sounds sweet though.

Still see them in the Canadian West at least at Chevy/Suzuki dealerships. You know what really gets me is how there is a billboard advertising the Sonic and it quotes 36mpg city, 50mpg hwy. What are they using a new 'formula' to come up with the numbers now? Sheesh I was mad because when I bought my car in 2006 it didn't qualify for the 'green' car rebate of $1500 bucks. If the Aveo can't qualify for a green car rebate then what cars did? I guess its because its city/hwy mileage was under reported in the papers.
I was thinking about selling mine, but I just dunno, its been so darn reliable. You know what it was listed for at the dealership in 2006? $10300. (I know thats nothing special for those of you in the US but for Canadian pricing that was pretty sweet). When I got to the west coast in 2008 several Aveos with 25 thousand miles were listed for more than that at dealerships!
All I can think of now is wouldn't it be fun to put a Cruze motor in one of our cars? Someone'll do it eventually I bet. Until then I will dream of gutting mine as much as I can, and putting a hitch on it.

Nothing like dying a slow death. I'm still kinda upset about the name change. I mean why do they get it called Aveo everywhere else except here?
