when I have ac on and stop at a light, etc, the idle surges and is not steady. if I turn air off it is smooth again.

I wanted to change the idle control valve but with most diagrams bad orientation for reference it seems it should be on the intake, but I cannot find it on my intake. it seems my intake is different. it's a 1.6L Daewoo engine if that helps.
could my compressor have a problem of some type?
