      Exhaust system

Hey, im new to this site and was wondering if anyone help me out with this? I have been searching all over for an axle back exhaust system (want some better sound, not overly concerned with better performance). But, just like everything else i look for, it doesnt exist for this car (2008 Pontiac Wave, brand new when i got it in 2007) Has anyone had one custom made? or even a cat back system made? What kind of prices are good? and any other inexpensive simple mods to increase slight performance and style...

Oh, i guess i should add that this is a leased car, so nothing can be 100% permanent. Bolt on is a must.

      thanks!

the only thing you can really do is the header bolt on wise, nothing else is bolt on really, but I would not even worry about it if it is a lease.

You could always get a shop to weld up a flange and make a custom cat-back for you that can be bolted on. I haven't really looked at how the exhaust on this vehicle is routed yet so I'm not sure where the best spot would be. You could always talk to an exhaust shop and see what they could do, and they may be able to bring up a diagram as well.

You can remove the rear muffler, there's a flange with 2 bolts just in front of the rear axle bar.

Just get a shop to remove the muffler and make a new piece of pipe with a flange that will bolt up to the stock system which will then go over the axel bar and out the rear.

You can then do what i did, and go straight pipe with a nice high quality tip, or put on an aftermarket exhaust. That way swapping on the factory muffler is as simple as 2 bolts.

How does the straight pipe sound? I dont want anything too loud, just a nice deep sound. But straight pipe with a tip would be way cheaper than buying an aftermarket muffler. Do you have a vid of yours or something i can compare too.

      thanks for the reply!

I had a pipe bent the right way, it cost 30$. I worked at a shop where I made a flange to weld the pipe to and I could remove the muffle and bolt the pipe on the same way. Total cost for me was about 45$. But the amount of fabrication involved, I'd say you're looking at 100-120$ to have someone make one.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

$300 should be a full exhaust.
