Anyone here buy an extended warranty on there Aveo - then not use it - and get there money back?
I've read where the issuing company usually 'goes out of business' leaving no way to get the advertised / promised refund.

well, nevermind...I went through my records and indeed found that I purchased the GMPP Majorgaurd protection for $899.
Did some research and it seems you can only get a refund for cancelling it early, but not if you have it the whole time, yet never use it.
I guess it's like buying defect 'insurance' more than an extended warranty. Wasted $900... never again.

Extended warrenties most of the time are not a very good investment, but yeah you are right. You learned your lesson though an expensive one
What did the warrenty cover anyways?
insurance is a waste too if you dont have an accident.
i don't buy extended warranties.
Only $900? What a deal! I got a letter from GM offering me a GM Protection Plan to essentially extend the factory comprehensive warranty from 36k to 50k for around $1700. I don't buy extended warranties either, but if I had seen an offer of $1700 for coverage of 24k miles worth of repairs, it may have given me pause when buying the car. Either the Aveo is a huge piece of poop, or GM makes more on the extended warranties than the car itself.
Warranties are huge profit, thats why when you go anywhere (from staples to car dealers) they push them on you. Especially with all the loopholes that they dont end up paying for repairs anyhow.
One of my friends "sells" extended warranties for every warranty sold the dealer gets $100, and he gets $100. His warranties are like $899 to, but they adjust somewhat to what you are buying. He has like 2 dozen dealerships that carry his warranty, so if they only sell 5 cars a week (between them all) thats $500 in his pocket. He has the same deal through the same company for financing, the dealer gets $100, and he gets $100. So if you buy a warranty and finance through his company they each get $200.
