Fender flare removal

I have a 2009 Pontiac G3 which of course is the Aveo in disguise. It came with some plastic, chrome colored fender inserts on the front fenders. I am wanting to remove them to subdue them with a darker finish but not sure how to remove them. Does anyone know how they come out. Looking at it, they do not seem to be screwed in, are they held in by clips or ????? If you know how I can remove them with out breaking them would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

i would take the fender off and look inside to see if its being held in by clips, if not then its probably just glued on, use some fishing line and floss back and forth between the fender and the flare until it comes off
