where is that?? in pittsburgh, emissions is as hard as CA, every year emissions test, and we don't have the 15 year cut off like they do.. (it tapers off to 25.. but gets easier after 15..
congratulations though!
its kind ironic that california is so hard yet there are tons of tuners and shops out there
thats because of carb exempt parts.. plus nice highways / weather and 15 yo exemption.
Ontario, Canada, as soon as the car is 5 years or older you need a test every year, my car just reached the 5 year mark so i had to go and pay someone to tell me that my car runs perfic (the dump ass kept reving my engine pulling in to the shop caz he liked how the exaust sounded)Quote:

yea i was talking more about swaps and their rules...i heard ceratin things are a pain
thats why most test only facilities can be bribed into passing your car  its about 150Quote:

if it doesnt pass, you have to pay to fix it so it does, and it is basically if you are obd2 and dont have a check engine light, so mod are ok, but if it throws a code, or remove any emissions equipment, they wont pass you.

it's not as bad as it sounds.......... actually it's every 2 years here in ontario !!
if the last digit of the year of your car is even...... you are due on odd years and vice versa.... example a 2003.... need tested 2008.2010.2012 etc etc...
sweet, didn't know that, so next test is 2011 for me, but i will be in new york state in 2 months anyways so **** canadian emission testsQuote:

As for a swap, if you pull in with a 2.0 in your aveo and it looks stock, they wouldn't bat an eye. It's not like the actually cross reference all the info. And if they did know, they would pass you since they would be an enthusiast.
When I first smogged my Subie with the aftermarket turbo I had all the guys in the smog check looking at my car asking questions. It was cleaner at the pipe than before I went turbo.
i hope i pass this year
I'm glad I live in a state that doesn't require those tests. just another hassle.
Congrats on passing!! What I love about my county in NY (Putnam) is we have safety inspections only, no emissions. They just check Lights, brakes, tires, horn, emergency brake, etc. No tailpipe sniffing.
