rust sucks and you have to get to it before it gets worst. That could take years to perf right through and the warranty would not cover it.

I would dremel it, sand, prime and paint it. I've done pretty good jobs in the past with just the matching spray cans from auto shops!

I looked underneath mine today, and noticed that alot of the undercoating is missing in places. In fact, it easily peels right off, taking the paint with it and exposing bare metal. It also comes off wherever you jack up the car. I can imagine that with salt, this is a recipe for disaster!

hmm... so there IS a positive side to living in Seattle area... almost no snow in the winter (it's been a very rare occasion to see snow here until few winters ago... after that it became pretty usual to have some sightings of snow almost every winter for a day or two). The rain sucks, but at least the roads are free of salt!

I was under my Aveo the other day and it honestly looked very good. Its spent its whole life in Wisconsin (tons of salt), so I was pretty impressed.

I'm not having any rust issues either, here in rust prone Western NY....

But the initial rust bubble I talked about in this thread, has come back..

You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

Lol. Just a coinky. I just happened to see this old thread and thought I'd add an update. I definitely dont detail my car all the time. especially over the past 5 months of winter we just got past.

I wish I had some good material for posting like other's do, with wicked mod's and stuff. My Aveo's just a daily driver with barely a buget for general maintinence.

Maintenance is a necessity, mods are not. No one judges you for mods you don't have. Just do what makes sense to you and your situation. Plus, who wants to be a follower?

Mike is right, you don't have to come here just to compare your ride to the others and see what mods you have. If the car is a DD and that's what you got it for - there is nothing wrong with that. And it's perfectly fine to just come to the forum, get the info you need, and chime in once in a while on threads.

I'm sure most of people on here would agree that it's better not to post at all then to post a whole bunch of stuff that's unrelated just to get your post counter up or whatever other reason...

Forum is more than just about mods, it's also a huge knowledge base of stuff already posted and of experiences that are you just waiting for the right question.

I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Winter is from Dec to Apr. Tons of snow and road salt. Cars here rust out like crazy.
My 2004 Swift+, 250,000km has no rust. I'm very surprised.
I've had a bunch of 1990-1996 Swifts and the are terrible for rust. So I've been watching the Aevos on the road, haven't seen rust yet, which is awesome. I'm thinking maybe the body panels are galvanized or something.
