Also, you should't text and drive anyways unless you're like stuck in traffic or at a stop light. Everyone thinks they can do it, as did I, until I just about hit someone while trying to text and drive. Also, I don't know if you downshift or not, but all you really need to do is get up to speed in the parking lot and then coast until you need to stop or speed up again, it makes it a lot easier.
When you stop on a hill and you are going to start going up the hill, try this:
1) Apply clutch pedal and foot brake and continue to hold
2) Put into 1st gear
3) Pull E-Brake
4) Release foot from brake pedal
5) Slowly engage clutch and give gas necessary to start moving
6) When you feel the car start to pull forward against the applied e-brake or even if you can tell it is going to start moving forward (which you should be able to judge by now), slowly or quickly release the e-brake (depends on situation) until you are able to move on your own without the e-brakes assistance
7) Go on your merry way!
I have this problem too sometimes and have to use this method so I dont fall back into the person behind me that doesn't realize that some people actually drive manuals that fall backwards on inclines when trying to get going haha
