GM supposedly working on Aveo-based crossover / Cute Ute

Autocar UK is reporting that Chevy’s top brass has given a green light to an Aveo based 5 seater SUV.

The new SUV will be designed and engineered by GM’s Korean R&D centre the same division that was responsible for the Cruze and Beat.
Rendering below (not sure how based in reality it is)...

Any chance for AWD and turbo for future swaps? I am surprised to see further Aveo development. Is this their answer to competing against their other new small cars?

They are supposedly offering a 4wd option. The engines listed include a 1.4, but not the 1.4T.

But of course, who knows which markets will get this vehicle and with what engines. Remember: story was broken by a U.K. car site, and I quoted an Indian site.

That said, that car looks like it would slot nicely into the spot in GM's North American lineup vacated by the Pontiac Vibe (which was also available in 4wd for a while).

My wife has a an AWD vibe and it is a great vehicle. Not really a direct comp set but there is a void for sure.

Great looking, as a matter of fact the best looking small SUV I've seen so far. I hope it is produced/sold here.

I'd be curious to see what actually is produced if it were Aveo based.
