I messed up my Aveo's alignment when I replaced a tie rod end last fall.
I couldnt get the lock nut to break free from the steering rod. The new tie rod needed the nut to be backed up the arm a bit. I rode on it like this for a while and the tire wore down and the steering was a little wacky.
Today after getting a set used tires on there, with a fresh balance I put the car up on ramps...(unusually warm here too..) got underneath and fought the bolt until I won. Got it backed up the arm about 3 / 32nds and tightened the arm into the tie rod, which added the toe out the right(passenger) tire needed.
No doubt the car could use a computer alignment, but it's much closer to normal now than it was. Without the wobbling worn tires and bent rims (tire guy hammered one back into shape)..and with car no longer pulling over the center line, it's back to like new/ nice shape for 103k miles on bad Northeastern US roads.....
