Help with finding tachometer wire on 2009 Pontiac G8 GT

This isn't my car, nor am I doing the mod. The car belongs to my dad, and he is in the process of installing a Zex nitrous kit. He had also ordered a traction control unit to go along with the nitrous kit. One of the wires has to connect to the tachometer wire, which he can't find. I tried looking it up online and could not find anything that is relevent to what I'm looking for. Anyone that has anything helpful would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I had to tap into my gauge cluster when I installed my tach, but you should be able to use the coilpack or something

@exodus0784, thanks. But my dad said he could call the nitrous help line tomorrow. But I also know that he wants to try & wrap this up tonight. I'll look it up & see what I can find. Thanks again.

@thehunterooo, I wasn't sure about that idea, but my dad said he was reading that somewhere. Where on the coilpack would he have to connect it to?

i have no idea, it does not work on the aveo though, but on must cars you can connect it to the coilpack, or so ive read, i would try to google it a bit, you have a device to read the signal right?

If you mean the traction control unit, yes. Otherwise, IDK what you mean. My dad was saying that he would know where the tach wire is on older cars because they'd put it around the distributor, but many new cars don't use a distributor, so he can't find where that wire is. Like I said, he could just call the help line, which will be easiest for me. Thanks for the tips.

3 months later, and he finally has the damn thing figured out! He actually wired it up the other day.

Did you do a happy dance? I'm sure some would be curious as to which wire you used.

What wire did he use to pick up the tach signal?
