Help on side of freeway & wont start

Long story short I had a flat and the car sat in the side of the road with the flashers on overnight. New tire on and battery dead it won't start even with jumper cables. Is there a fuse or a magic trick to jumping an Aveo? It's an 09 5 door hatchback.

      Thanks

First suspect is the jumpers - the wires and clamp connectors can rust-out over time. I once had some literally fall apart as they were being pulled out of the trunk. Or perhaps they aren't making a solid connection with one of the 4 battery clamps/terminals.

I have had problems with my relays. Try using switching the highbeam and starter relay

Turns out I needed to disconnect the negative battery terminal and reset the computers. Carry a 10 mm wrench with you boys.

Smile Jumper cable quality or lack therof.

Unless you have a high quality jumper set, which I do not, you may need to let the charging car idle for 10-15 minutes or so to get the dead battery up enough to start. I have started my dead battery in my 2006 without problems in this fashion. Having said that, I will be putting a 10 MM wench in the car just in case.

well, I Haven't had to Jump off Scoots myself yet (however, the Salesman had to jump her off the day i bought her, as she had been sitting on the lot a good while) but she HAS Jumped off cars that are BIGGER than Her (with the Connections done PROPERLY of Course), with a set of Cheap (but apparently Good Quality) jumper Cables that came with a Roadside Assistance Kit the Selling Dealer threw in with the Deal I got!

It largely depends on how depleted the battery is when you try to jump it. Generally if you can hear the starter click, then it is not completely discharged and might be jumped without problems. On the other hand, if everything is just DEAD, then you will probably need to let the dead battery charge a bit before it will kick the engine over.
