In respone to highest mileage aveo.. I currently have a 2007 pontiac wave sedan. Purrs like a kitten. I put 90km a day on er doing 140. Only repairs since I got her at 116000km other than synthetic oil changes every 5000km, regular air filters and now am cold air intake upgrade, sparks plugs once, headlights, I did a tranny flush and valve cover seal a bit back. She now has 206404km and going strong. Anyone out there with a comparable high mileage?
Impressive... I'm at 206400. I hope I make it as far as you do. She's 2007 wave regular synthetic oil cold air no real big repairs. Valve cover seal I guess was the only "bad" one. Anyways take care happy travels
I've got two Aveos in the family, one with 115k the other with 185k.....both up to date on all maintenance....the only thing I worry about is the fuel pump on the 185k engine........I'm thinking about replacing it just as insurance........am I needlessly worrying ???????
(how many miles have people been getting on fuel pumps especially if they are never run down below a quarter tank of gas)
Yes, IMO definitely needless worrying. Worst case would be just one inconvenient day if it ever quits on you. And who's to say that one of those aftermarket pumps is even going to outlast the OEM unit that's on there now.
Now if you want something to lose lots of sleep over, how about the oil pump? By the time the idiot oil light comes on telling you the pump is dead, it's almost certainly going to be too late to save the engine. However, I wouldn't consider swapping that out either, for the same reason as with the fuel pump. Plus it's a really big job, which is not a small consideration either.
However, I have given lots of thought to teeing an oil pressure gauge off the sender unit, and running it into the cabin. That would be a modest amount of $$ and work, in exchange for possibly saving the engine somewhere down the road. I still find it hard to believe that the entire auto industry believes it's unimportant for a driver to be able to monitor the oil pressure. That's what happens when bean counters are in charge of decisions like this instead of the engineers. Just another useless rant there.
Understand your point....I've installed many oil pressure gauges in my old cars over the years ( it was a lot easier on old vehicles) , but I also carried a spare fuel pump when they had high mileage and only two bolts held them on the side of the engine....... I guess my real question is, on these high mileage Aveos do they still have the original fuel pumps ????
Most forums get almost no follow-up, so you probably won't get much of any response from those who posted previously on this thread. About the only thing to hang your hat on is that you'll find very few reports of pumps actually failing (across the auto industry, not just Aveo). You can find people posting fuel pump questions, but again, no follow-up to confirm that their vehicle's pump actually was bad.
And there's one other thing to consider, and it relates to what you said about pumps being easy to replace years ago. The auto makers, almost without exception, now locate the pump in places that are not easy to get to. Some vehicles even require dropping the tank to get to the pump which is attached to the top of it. So it follows that the auto industry must have a lot of confidence in the durability and quality of these pumps, and also the current refining and storage technology of gasoline.
Not saying that fuel pumps never fail because, of course some do, just as with every other part. JMO that the failure rate is not even close to justify replacing one that's working fine.
You make some very valid points, all very good but probably the best point you made was about the quality of replacement pumps....I worked in Advance Auto for a few years as a retirement job......there s a lot of garbage being sold in the aftermarket industry.
p.s. I am glad that if the pump on my Aveo fails at least there is an access hole under the rear seat : )
Thats funny --- 190,000 miles, still running on the original factory fuel pump from 04. Still registers on the gauge on the money.
My 08 aveo has 67k on it with a timing belt kit in the mail awaiting warmer weather to put it all in (Will be a new venture for me). Mostly shes been good to me, Awhile back something on the road deflowered the front exhaust flex pipe and needed to be replaced because I was tired of hearing the engine. That whole ordeal turned one simple problem into a complete exhaust repair that ended in the cat being welded to the front pipe (not bolted) and all the flanges being reconstructed due to rusted bolts that broke in the process of fixing the original problem.
Yeah she threw me in the dirt for 2 days but at least I dont have to hear her moan all the time ;)
Ohh and replaced the rear lights with direct LED replacements to try and stop the dimming/high draw of everything when brakes are applied (It worked).
Mine started doing a slight dimming when applying the brakes, especially if the AC and blower were on. My battery was 6 years old so I replaced it with one with higher cranking amps and just a larger battery in general. Nothing dims now. LED's will help, but mine was the battery. It would read the correct voltage, but the amperage just wasn't there anymore. You could also hear it taking a bit more of an effort to start, so that day I went to NAPA and bought a new battery. I wasn't going to be one of those people who walks out to a dead battery, or it just won't start.
I replaced both of my dome lights with large LED "bulbs" and now the cabin and trunk are filled with light. I never realized how dim the old LED bulb I put in was when the factory bulb finally died. lol

Im on my seconed battery although I didnt go for a higher amperage and the dimming never went away. It's not a drastic dim but more of an annoyance. I think the rear taillight was a bad design choice over the older models because it runs two (dual filament) bulbs per light instead of one so when the brakes are applied its pushing 8 filaments versus 4 for the brake lights alone.
I think it does look really cool to have both sets, and it's different. Realistically, you're correct. That's a lot of amperage to push to those bulbs. Plus everything else that's already running. Not to mention the third brake light as well, it has 5 mini bulbs in it.
Mine reads 14.1v all the time, and there's only one way I can get it to drop to 13.9v and that's as far as it will ever drop.
Turn everything on, High beams, Running Lights, Blower, A/C, Brake Lights, Kenwood Radio & My Kicker Hideaway turned up, Rear Defog + Heated Mirrors, and the wipers on if it's been pouring rain. Hell, I even opened the door and let my two big LED dome lights come on and the strip I added in the trunk and still nothing dims and it will NOT go lower than 13.9v. lol

New Guy here, just revived this Aveo I have. 151,000 on the clock in miles and with a new engine and clutch and flywheel, who knows how far it will go.
New here, just hit 170k on my 07 aveo, original engine, although she's starting to give me a hard time now.
06 Chevy Aveo with 211000 miles the only thing that's ever been replaced is the wheel bearings and brakes
hello, im new here, i own '04 aveo, its on 300k+++ mileage, almost 400 xD, still running the same engine, but replaced a lot of the parts(it was when my dad is using) 12years and still running strong xD
I have just hit 130K on my 2011 Aveo5. have been running synthetic oil and change air filter frequently. I'm averaging 33.7mpg all the time. Mostly highway driving, some round town.
I have 271,716 and drive it to work every day same engine. 2005
what about lowest mileage? I have a 2011 Aveo that I purchased new. I just passed 36,000 miles.

I still have my 2009 sedan with 247K miles she has been off the road since last october. She needs the rear suspension assembly to the tune of about $800 for parts alone. Ive got a yaris now and loving it. Not sure what I am gonna do with the aveo
my 2004 aveo sedan has 147038 miles on the clock and had the motor replaced at 60xxx, worst part was we were taking it to the mechanic when the timing belt blew out.

I just rolled over 170,000 miles in my 2007 Aveo.
I'm over 112 K miles on my 2004 Aveo. I've been delivering pizza for over a year which really puts miles on.
Bought my 2005 Aveo LS in October 2004 new. Now have 217,000 miles on it. Replaced timing belt, plugs and wires once. Only thing else I have done to the engine is change the valve cover gasket. I have always changed the oil every 3,000 miles or so. That is the key to keeping any motor going. I did have the transmission go out at 155,00 miles.
I'm a little over 110,000 miles and bought mine new in 06 and is Oct. 2016 now. I doubt it is any record setter.
I've got a 2010 Aveo LT and I'm at 139,000. So far, the vehicle has performed well.
Two 2004 Aveo's purchased new...... 1-automatic @ 183k and 1-stick @ 143k.....
Total ( not counting-routine timing belt maintenance every 60k) repairs so far...... 1- clutch, 3- sets front brake pads, 1-a/c compressor, 1- heater/ac blower motor, 1- oxygen sensor, 2- thermostat housings, 2- valve cover gaskets......not bad for 2 under $10,000 vehicles : )
I have a 2004 Aveo LS Sedan with over 220,000 miles. I change the oil every 4K and the Timing Belt every 80,000 or so. The engine is sound but the Front Wheel Bearings keep going. Not as often as I have heard but enough times that they should modify the bearings some how. I love my Aveo and I am hoping to get another 200,000 on this engine.
