I'm right at 130k right now, but I don't drive very far anymore now that I'm done with college. I switched to Valvoline Max-Life Semi-Synthetic 10w-30, and run it year around. I also run the Fram High mileage filter, I've got the "number" for it recorded in my spreadsheet maintenance log. The oil is always as clean as the day I put it in after a change at about 4.5k. My car seems to love the switch, it runs smoother and sounds "meatier". I went to buy the Max-Life once in the summer and they were out of 5w-30 and I figured 10w-30 one time wouldn't hurt it. It ran totally fine from the start, no issues prior that would warrant a switch. The sound and feel improvement was astounding, so I've stuck with it ever since. That was about a year ago, and three oil & filter changes. No issues to date.

I agree with AveoZ on the door locks, I never lock the doors when I'm in the car. Thankfully this is a small town and I don't really have to worry about being mugged. I DESPISE the vehicles that autolock when putting them into gear, or after you start moving. I am SO thankful that Chewy does not do that, I would've tried to have it disabled if it did. I do like the child locks for the back. I keep them disabled though since I don't have any kids nor haul any around.

It would make me nuts if I didn't have keyless entry, you can only lock it from the outside driver door with the key if you don't. I wish it was where you could hit lock and it would chime and wait for you to close all doors. After about 5 seconds the doors will lock, that gives you an "OH SH*T!" window, to not lock your keys in the car or forget something. Plus time to open another door before it locks, and then it'll wait for you to close the other door. My Mammaw's 02 Malibu is that way since it's an LS and doesn't have keyless entry.

      Just my two cents.

Oh! And welcome to the forum AveoZ!

      -Andrew

I guess I am in the 200K club? lol My Orange LS just clicked off 242,000 miles, however it broke the timing belt around 239K (due to improper install btw) when I bought it for $500, and far as I can tell it has had at least one tranny swap, (engine is original to car) and now the engine is rebuilt as well. Next belt is due at 300K so I will post an update im sure. I have seen aveo owners claim much higher mileage so I don't even consider this to be an issue as long as they keep making parts. Miles are just a number. I have worked on/driven Toyota's with well over 550K miles on them and still drove fine when maintained. IMO the odometer number only matters on cars that are neglected, for cars that are maintained it is only a number. - Apparently it also matters when a car lot wants to gouge a customer I hear. lol

Just hit 99k the other day, should hit 100k by Christmas. It recently had the head rebuilt at 96k miles due to the previous owner neglecting the timing belt. With a new top-end, I am hoping to get another 100k miles out of it or pass it on to someone else in the same shape I bought it in.

I orginally bought the Aveo as a beater car, to save me from putting excess mileage on my Jeep which is currently financed. However, I put a some extra $$ into the Aveo and it runs and look 1000% better.

I got a recall letter from GM this summer on the DRL module for my 04 Aveo.
Still waiting for them to notify me when dealers have replacement modules available for the recall change-out.
Not sure if it's the same DRL module on an 07, but may be.

May Aveo 2008 BIG has gone just over 244K km by now...

The Engines good (just over 152.5K miles) and hope it will go on more... although there are quite a bit of problems that started to rise in the past 15K km.

Ok so... I'm new to the forum, been stalking a while but after reading this thread I had to sign up and share!

I'm at 291k on my 2005! Bought it off a family friend a year ago when she had 230. It's all original besides brakes, tires, a wheel bearing and tune up. I know she hasn't had a timing belt yet... And that sh*t scares me everyday!

Anyway, happy I finally signed up, you guys look like a knowledgeable, friendly group of people!

Translation for the rest of the world: 291k miles = 468k km.

That beats my personal record (in an old Accord).

      Welcome to the forum!
