Just bought a running, but not really driving, 2009 G3 for $700. I would have paid more if it were in ready to use condition.

I purchased mine for $1000 with around 110k miles on it. It had some electrical issues to sort out yet now she has become a good little car that just needed some love.
Just bought an 09' Aveo 5 speed with 80,000 miles. needs rockers.....1,200 bucks. Drove it home 2 hrs after purchase.....ran perfectly.
Just bought 2008 CHEVY AVEO with 111,700 miles, auto trans .base model with AC. FOR $1,100 . Looks like no maintenance done except oil changes ,tires and brakes. Driver door and front left fender has been changed due to wreck and I NEED TO GET ORIGINAL LOCKSET IN DRIVERS DOOR ( Pease Advise). It had 8 codes and the AIRBAG LIGHT on, hopefully I can remedy.

AIR INTAKE FILTER ( "VERY" DIRTY)
UPPER and LOWER RADIATOR HOSES (SWOLLEN)
NEW COOLANT RESIVIOR ( caked on junk ,dirty, "SIMPLY NASTY ),
FLUSH COOLING SYSTEM. ( very contaminated, a lot of brown rusty water and cruddy lumpy junk)
THERMOSTAT ( WHY NOT when changing hoses and cleaning)
CLEAN ENGINE BAY ( ALL cars i have "WILL" have a clean engine bay.)
NEW IN CABIN AIR FILTER.
NEAR FUTURE ITEMS;
FLUSH TRANSMISSION AND CHANGE FILTER, CHANGE BRAKE FLUID, CHANGE POWER STEERING FLUID,
DEEP CLEAN INSIDE AND OUT.
LOOK FOR WORN SUSPENSION PARTS ( seems ok for now)
Then fix little dings

A MUST. IS. ADDING CRUISE CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!

Just getting started.
Is anybody still on here?
2006 Chevy aveo hatch with 170,000 miles for 1,000$... I've replaced the rotors and brakes, valve cover gasket, plugs and wires(oil was leaking into plug wells), tie rod ends. Air intake duct(ripped in half), all vaccum hoses because I always do with high mileage used vehicles, transmission cooler hoses both were leaking, new radiator/ and lower hose, PCV valve because I broke mine screwing in back in, about to replace timing belt/pulleys/and water pump. I haven't had it long but when I got it these probelms were already there it wasnt neglected just the normal maintenance wasnt cared about good running car no doubt... but now I have a rpm fluctuation when going down hill while cruising and a slight jerking when going up hill (feels like a misfire or back fire kinda) but there is no check engine light at all I cant figure out what it is
In 2010. I bought my Aveo hatchback (profile pic) 2007. 1.2 53 kW + LPG, 35000 km (22000 miles) for 7800 $. They were asking 9000 $. I got also a pair of new winter tires from them. I bought it from a Chevrolet dealer and workshop. They used it in their driving school, which was their other business. Clutch was ok. Power steering, power windows, remote lock, AC, CD player, 2 ABS.
In April of 2023, I got my 2008 Chevrolet Aveo5 LT Hatchback for C$5400 (~4000 USD), with 108700 KMs (~67500 miles) on it (clean title). At time of purchase the private seller said everything was fine with the car, the pre-purchase inspection from a local car repair shop was also positive.
Fast forward to June 2023, there is an Oil leak and the AC compressor clutch doesn't engage and theres a leak in the AC refrigerant system, not sure if thats worth repairing by replacing the AC compressor.
Installed an Apple Carplay/Android Auto touchscreen headunit for media and navigation instead of the stock radio for about C$140. Looking to wire a reverse camera too if I can figure out the wiring aspect of it for the reverse sense cable.
I bought my 2011 Aveo5 Mid 2022 for $3000. It has the 5 speed manual, and only 84k miles. Perfect condition except that my drivers interior door handle broke after a little use (easy fix). Overall a fun car to whip around.
marketwatcher, I love rescue stories, especially when they are about my favorite "underdog" n underrated car; the AVEO! I've seen so many decent Aveos crushed for a defect that could have been fixed or one that could have been avoided with proactive maintenance. Keep up the good work and best of luck with your ownership. After 12 years out of production, it might be a good time to squirrel away some spare Aveo parts. My experience is that salvage yards don't keep them long b/c of low demand for parts. Our best source is from a local owner who is selling parts before junking his Aveo. Good luck!
NutsNBolts, a very wise purchase! I have the exact same 2011 LT with the (5) spd. Urban grey, pw, pb, six speakers, very nice interior with a D.O.M. of late Dec, 2010. VIN Kl1Td5DEOBB189462. Love the car! My advise, if possible squirrel away spare parts like headlamps, tail lamps, high wear interior parts, even sheet metal, if room permits. What color n model( LS/LT) is your 2011? Best of luck with your ownership!
Uriken, Well said! A little TLC translates into getting many more miles from a tuff and faithful little car. Good luck!
I have the exact same problem with my 74K miles 2011 as you described....a misfire, hesitation, jerking randomly occurring when the engine is NOT under load ..high vacuum..and with NO cel. I just purchased a set of NGK Iridium plugs # ZFR6FIX-11, stk # 6441. If that doesn't work, I'm S.O.L. Let me know if you find a solution and thank you in advance.
recently (this week) bought a 2009 aveo LT with 80k miles for $400! amazing steal. only issues are rusted and broken exhaust flanges and a common clutch sensor electrical problem that stops the car from starting. looking for a good replacement exhaust, if anyone has a link or idea let me know!
Paid $350 09 aveo5 ls 5spd had 147,000 when I bought it as a junk car needed a cv-axle now I’m at 181239 as my daily
Great to hear you rescued an AVEO from that "dark place". I've seen many vehicles, including AVEOs sent to the shedder that could have been put back on the road. I hope you '09 serves you well and welcome to the forum.
I paid $500 for my '06 Aveo sedan. The previous owner had left it in a parking lot where it sat for 6 months. It would run for awhile and die. Giving random codes, the most common was ecm read-only memory performance. I bought the cheapest ECM on ebay ($40) swapped out the ECM and I have a nice little get-me-to-work car. the only problem now is I'm starting to like it...
I always enjoy an AVEO RESCUED story such as yorz. Out of the many Aveos that are destroyed each year, I believe a good number could have been "saved" and put back on the road. As to your problem, "I'm starting to like it"..no worries, on this forum you are in contact with like-minded Aveo-owning/driving folks.
I totally agree! A well maintained Aveo is the very definition of a "sleeper". It got the "worst car made" award in a 2008 Car & Driver article. Some owners dispose of them for minor problems, likely due to lack of owner maintenance,. then pay big $ for a vehicle that does the same with a different nameplate and much higher $ maintenance costs.
I bought mine in 2018 it is an 08 hatchback 5spd and had 21k miles on it. I scored it for $2100 off Craigslist. It now has 150k on it and still going.
Great to hear! You got to be proud to own such a reliable, low mileage vehicle for, by today's standard, a back row worn & torn vehicle needing repair price. Even sweeter, some auto mag quoted that the 2008 Aveo was the worst car made! Don't believe everything you read.Best of luck for miles to come.
You bought it low enough that you can invest some $ in new and used parts and still have a decent Aveo that will save you $ every time you drive it. Best of luck with your repairs. You don't say what year it is, but there are many Gen1 parts on facebook.Don't give up on your Aveo5. The hard part is over...you found a bargain, run with it.
