Since someone asked me...I bought my 2006 Aveo HatchBack LS brand new in 2006. 4 miles on it for exactly $11K out the door. As most everyone on here knows, I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love that it is paid off, it looks brand new still, and now I am seeing others keep their in new condition to! I usually only see beaten up ones on the streets here in Ft.Laud. I love that it is just what it is, a simple car. No power anything, except brakes, so nothing expensive to break like power windows/seats/door locks/keyless entry/ or other junk like that.
But when it needs repairs it is usually expensive, its now mostly just regular maintenance. And as most on here know, I JUST got the rear shocks replaced, at 34K miles, for a total of $207. After getting an estimate of over $750 from my now EX mechanic!
Found a new more realistic shop to deal with. I love it 80% of the time, and 100% of the time when my sister making her $435 monthly payment on her 2014 CRUZE! For the next 5 years. So all in all I like my car. Others on the road might look at me like I am in a Neon or something. But I think it is a fairly well built car, still no rattles, looks good, drive good, lots of room, and no payments!!
But it is expensive to repair. Maintenance is cheap, but repairs are not. Like the timing belt/water pump that is still facing me. Once that BIG repair is done, maybe I will be at 95% happy all the time. But it isnt a Ford Ranger, what I HAD to give up to get an 'economy car' when gas went to $4 a gallon in 2006
I paid $2000 for my 2009 Aveo LT with 81,000 miles on it. The right corner was damaged in an accident. I pulled the engine and transmission so the frame rail could be straightened. After I got ready to title it I had a code P0122, a new throttle body cured that problem.
Bought mine Aveo LS 1.2 in february 2013, it was build in August 2011. (just over 10.000 kilometers !) Payed $ 8900 (7950 Euro) for this almost brandnew "Chevy" ! Today 49000 KM and no problems whatsoever !
In Nov. of 2013, I paid $6700 for a 2011 LT 4 dr sedan, 5spd with 15 in alloys, pw, pl, cruise, premium sound, urban grey with 2yr CPO Chev warranty, 19,666 miles, from Van Chevrolet, NKC. We love our urban runabout which proudly sits next to my wifes' big, ugly, premium-only Cayenne.
I paid 200 for an 2007 with 105k. The previous owner torn the head off and forgot how to put it back together....lol he thought the gasket blew......it didn't upon further investigation by me, it was found to be a bad water pump.....lol the head and gasket was fine. But I put all new stuff back in and she fired right up on the very first try. I got lucky lol
I got lucky and paid $1200 for an 06 aveo 5 hatchback! Cluster lights weren't working (of course!) fixed that today!! Car runs great and has 196000 km on it, mostly highway and all maintenance records.. Will be doing clutch, timing belt, ball joints and putting in a stereo, just cauz.. But what a steal of a deal!!!!
I bought my first Aveo in 2004 with 4 miles on it and paid $12,000 for it. This one I have now is my second and I paid $400 for it with a locked up engine.
