How to remove dashboard blank

Hi, on the lower left of the dashboard, there is an oval blank about 2" long. Other posts mentioned that this was for fog light option.
How do I pop that out? I want to put an outside temperature display in it, but I don't want to break anything trying to get it out.

In case anyone else wants to know, it pops out. It is easier to take the bottom panel off and use a long screw driver to pop it out from behind.
