I got these cool LED lites. (pics)

I got my hands on these little circuit boards (sorry no pics just yet) about 1 inch by 3 inches.

On one side they have about 12 LED's arranged in a circle and they run on 12v.

They came from a landscape lighting spot light I disassembled. I'm looking for suggestions on how to keep the circuit board dry. maybe wrap it up with duct tape?

I'd like to mount these in the recesses where the fog lights would be. I think Im going to need some sort of cover though. I dont think the led's are going to take direct contact with the elements. Maybe a piece of then plexi glass cut just right and affixed to the black plastic piece with double sided tape? I plan on tapping them into the parking lights to have some LED fog lites for an unusual look. (they dont have to actually light up the road).

If I also have city lights hooked up, could all these lights start to pop fuses? I would think the LED's dont use very much, but I could be wrong. There 11 watts.

here is a pic of what I have...

maybe these would be better for use inside the car.

I have the reflective cone and lens to make it a flood light.

I'd like to illuminate the fog lamp area with some led's.

Thanks Mike, but I'll end up butchering something if I dont come up with a solid plan.

I'm also considering using this thing to illuminate the grill area.

Might work good in the dome light too.

take measurements, thinkit thru all the way, be sure ur capable of doin it (ie right tools), get some epoxies. remember, measure twice, cut once. and disconnect battery when workin on electrical things. write **** down, look at ur materials beforeheand. its not a difficult job but there is the risk u can mess sumtin up all the same. be careful is all i can tell ya.

      Thanks Mike.

If I was to use the lite board where it could be exposed to moisture, such as for a fog lite, how would you keep the thing dry? would electrical tape then duct tape be ok, or would they eventually let moisture in?

I'm no circuit board professional but shouldn't you be able to put some kind of epoxy over it to make it water proof?

like i said in my previous post and 07aveo said, u can use an epoxy that u can find at either radio shack or an automotive store. it just wont look that pretty when ur done but it will be well hidden so it wont matter much.

put the cone over it and then use a silicone sealant to make sure its waterproof and the silicone shouldnt be a conductor so its safe if you get it on the board..

Re: I got these cool LED lites. (pics)

Just an update, I tried one of these in my dome light. It looked cool for like a week.

Dimmer than the factory light for sure, but cast a cool glow, which I liked better for a little extra privacy while I dont have tinted windows.

Well it fizzled after a week.

Now that I realize you can get led's from a number of sources, thats meant to replace a certain style of bulb...Im gona ditch these wierd oddities. Dosn't seem like they can handle an automotive environment. ( they were plugged into 12 volts DC on the display, so its not the voltage) And seeing as how I can get a cool blue dome light from ebay...Im gonna ditch these things. or maybe use them in the heater vents like in another thread.
