Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
Honestly, if it's not in a race setup I wouldn't bother. When you think about it, the best way to use nitrous on a 4cyl. motor is direct port injection, in which case you are basically looking at building a bottom end with stronger internals, which basically means while its apart you'd want to set up a turbo which is what you should've done right off the bat. So, without extensive work to the motor your best bet is a plate system ie. throttle body injection aka dry manifold or wet manifold injection, which is more or less a waste of time for the cost and little power gain. You're talking even with a 40-60 dry shot you're looking at having to upgrade the fuel system, probably narrow the gap on your plugs and would probably always have to run 92 octane. No thanks. I only run No2 in my Daytona to spool my turbo, as you can make a lot more power with boost than nitrous when it's done right. Just my .02. Did I miss anything Rabbit?
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
why are you asking me :P ?
read up how it works as in what it does for the compression / ignition stroke of the engine and decide from there. but wolf is right, you build with it in mind. just like you could bolt on a turbo and run like 3-4 psi without proper tuning, just you could run nos and run a small shot and not kill yourself. BUT if you expect results, your going to go past stock capabilities.
just run the car on denatured alcohol, and blow it up that way. it will be as much fun for a few minutes.
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
or have an auto aveo and rot in the basement :o
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
well not that this is relevant because i decided against it but i was trying to find out what the stock engine was able to take so that i could build around the nos. i wasnt just planning on hooking it up and running it.. but thanks.
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
no one wants to do anything with the stock engine :x
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
I have no complaints about the EcoTec motor in my Aveo. I knew what I was getting when I bought the car and I researched the lack of aftermarket before I even went and test drove it. It's no race car, but it's pretty quick, and with a few suspension mods and new intake and exhaust it's a cheap 10K hot-hatch with go-kart handling...being a VW guy, I guess that's what matters to me. Speed and power mean nothing if you can't control the car.
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
i cant complain either, i dont want something fast, but i want a little more power without the hassle of a turbo, maybe get into the 16's with cams and such, and i will be happy
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
I don't care about 1/4mile times in the Aveo, that's what I have my mid-11's Dodge Daytona for. No, I care about track times, racing stability, and the ability to handle aggressive maneuvering in the mountain roads.

Don't be lying hunter, you DO want something fast... 8) Aveo just takes quite a bit of time and money to get there, and makes you wonder if it's worth it for that. But like Wolf said, if you are interested in something that will handle well with a little bit of modifying it than Aveo can do it for you for less money and time than it can go fast. :D Plus, IMO, it's a neat little car that with a few mods can look hot. My car has been called a "nice import" today at a muffler shop, but when I told them what it is they were surprised that "GM econobox can look that good" :D
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
I wonder how fast im going to be once im done...
